Brunei
More formally known as Negara Brunei Darussalam and a developing country in tourism terms, it is, in contrast, a virtual “super power” in terms of its natural resources of oil and gas. Ruled by the renowned ‘Sultan of Brunei’, the cultural heritage, graceful people, colourful traditions and natural beauty of Brunei harmonises with the contemporary influence of this land. Explore the vast unspoilt rainforest, visit traditional stilt villages, take in the sights of Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital, or visit the ‘Jerudong Park’, a state-of-the-art theme park built by the Sultan. This Moslem country is free of alcohol. However, since it is so close-by the more visited attractions of Sabah and Sarawak, this should not dissuade you from visiting.
