Day 1-5 Beijing & Xi'an: As per China Essential Itinerary.

Day 6 Xi'an: Today your guide will take you to visit the Terracotta Warriors, a stunning collection of 10,000 life-size statues of the Chinese army, made over 2,000 years ago, yet almost perfectly preserved. During the afternoon, visit the ancient city wall in Xi'an, best enjoyed through a peaceful stroll or alternatively you can hire a bicycle. It is the most complete city wall that has survived in China and one of the largest military defence systems in the world. This evening, enjoy the Tang Dynasty Show, a colourful performance of traditional music and dance.

Day 7 Xi'an/Chengdu: Begin with a visit to the Shaanxi Museum which houses over 250,000 artefacts including treasures from many periods of China's history. Continue to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and then visit the Muslim Quarter for a glimpses of local community life. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Chengdu.

Day 8 Chengdu: A full day excursion to the magnificent Leshan Buddha, a 233ft tall stone statue which dates back to the Tang Dynasty. The Buddha is carved out of a cliff face that lies at the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers near the city of Leshan, and it is the largest stone Buddha in the world. The tour continues with a visit to the ancient town of Huanglongxi with many well-preserved attractive Qing Dynasty buildings.

Day 9 Chengdu: Today's first stop is the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Centre where natural habitats have been created to provide the best possible environment for rearing and breeding these adorable animals. The centre is also home to some less endangered species, such as the smaller red panda, which can often be seen in the trees or stretched out on branches with their legs dangling! Afterwards, transfer to the airport for a flight to Shanghai.

Days 10-11 Shanghai: As day 8-9 in China Essential Itinerary.

Day 12 Shanghai: Your tour concludes with a transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

Visas: Visas are required and must be obtained prior to your departure from the UK.

Guides & tipping: Groups of 10 people or more will be provided with the services of a Tour Manager who will accompany you throughout the tour in combination with the local guides in each city. For your convenience, a compulsory amount to cover tips for guides, drivers and porterage will be collected from you by your guide at the start of the tour. This is generally around £4 per person per day
