A unique opportunity to step back to a more civilised time and travel on Orient-Express’s luxury train through Thailand and the Malay Peninsula. The shining green carriages of the famed E&O convey their passengers in supreme comfort and hospitality between the Asian cities influenced by the style of the 1920s and 1930s. Fully air-conditioned and lavishly refurbished with wooden marquetry panelling and French furnishings, the train is in total a quarter mile in length. There are 14 sleeping cars, two restaurant cars, bar car, saloon car and observation/bar car at the end of the train. Pullman compartments have picture windows, day seating converting to upper and lower berths, a wardrobe, in-room safe, drop-leaf table, private bathroom (shower only), and the personal service of a cabin steward who is available around the clock. State and Presidential compartments are larger and feature lower berths. Prices shown are a lead in for low season and include accommodation, full board, sightseeing as outlined and private transfers to and from your chosen hotels or airport.

Day 1 Evening departure from Bangkok. Dinner is served as the train travels from the city into the countryside.

Day 2 A stunning early ride on board from Wang Po along the wooden trestle viaduct before disembarking the River Kwai station. Enjoy a raft cruise before boarding a coach to visit the Thailand-Burma Railway centre. Return to the train for lunch and departure.

Day 3 Cross into Malaysia arriving at Butterworth in the early afternoon, where you board a local ferry across to Penang. Explore colonial Georgetown before enjoying a drink at the charming Eastern & Oriental Hotel. Rejoin the train and depart past rubber trees, date palms, mosques and rural Malay villages.

Day 4 Your rail excursion draws to a close in Singapore.
