Airlines

If you’re looking for the best value flight, the most direct route or want to stop off somewhere on the way, all our holidays offer a choice of airlines. In most instances you can choose the day you fly out and return to suit your needs, often at no supplement.

By selecting only quality airlines, Premier can offer the flexibility of virtually daily departures and holidays that can be tailored to your exact requirements. All holidays featured include air travel by the best scheduled airlines in the world as the way you travel is often as important as the holiday itself. By offering you flexible options we’ll ensure you have the experience you promised yourself all the way through.

Passengers generally receive a complimentary bar and soft drink service, a choice of menu (vegetarian and children’s meals should be prebooked), in-flight entertainment (usually the latest new release movies) and multi-channel stereo, all at no extra charge. In addition to the international carriers featured we also use many other airlines for domestic and some regional flights.

Travel in style

Travelling long haul means long flights, which can be tiring, but we know that holiday time is precious and you will want to arrive refreshed and raring to go, so why not consider upgrading to a premium cabin, where you will benefit from greater comfort and space? Passengers who choose to travel on one of the ‘enhanced’ economy services or in business or first class enjoy many benefits. These may include a more attentive service, priority check-in, increased luggage allowance, more comfortable seats, improved entertainment and in-flight meals with a wider choice of wines and beverages.

Enhanced economy upgrade

A new generation of more affordable upgrades has become available over the past few years, offering you a premium service with additional benefits compared to standard economy class without the business or first class price tag. The service comprises a separate cabin with a larger and more comfortable armchair-like seat and extra leg room. This is an extremely cost-effective way of making the journey more relaxing without breaking the bank. Airlines such as British Airways, Eva Air, Virgin Atlantic and Qantas Airways offer this ‘enhanced’ product with added benefits such as:

  • separate cabin
  • increased legroom
  • increased baggage allowance (up to 25kg per person)
  • a wider seat with personal seatback TV
  • upgraded meal service (certain airlines only)
  • separate check-in service (certain airlines only)

Business class

Travelling business class, even one way, adds a new dimension to your holiday. For extra comfort and service, business class travel is fast becoming the standard for many of our customers. With Premier Holidays you will be flying with one of the world’s leading scheduled airlines so why not add a touch of class to your journey? One way and return business class supplements are available across most of our programme. Privileges usually include:

  • dedicated check-in
  • access to departure (and arrival - where available) business class lounges with complimentary refreshments and various other facilities
  • increased baggage allowance (30kg per person)
  • separate cabin with superior service, seating and on board entertainment with larger personal TV and on-demand videos (certain airlines offer flat beds in business class)
  • gourmet dining and fine wines
  • priority luggage on arrival

First class

Fly in first class, where available, and your flight will be pure luxury – the ultimate air travel experience! Throughout your flight you will receive the very best service with extensive legroom and on most carriers fully-reclinable flat beds. All privileges as per business class apply plus:

  • increased baggage allowance (40kg per person)
  • a la carte dining from internationally acclaimed chefs
  • complimentary bar service including the finest champagnes and wines

Online check in

Increasingly, airlines are now offering an online check in facility, which means that you can check in from 24 hours before departure from the comfort of your own home, selecting your seats and printing out your own boarding cards. At the airport, you then only need to leave your luggage at the fast bag drop, avoiding the check in queue and saving you extra time and stress.

Luggage allowances

Most airlines offer a luggage allowance of 20 – 23kg per person travelling in economy class. This is usually increased to 30kg for business class travellers and 40kg for first class travellers. (For travel to the USA, each person is permitted two bags weighing 20 – 23kg for their international flights although various limits apply for domestic flights, so we recommend that you try to travel with one bag only). Your e-ticket will show the exact allowances for each airline on your holiday itinerary. However, please note that, for health and safety reasons, airlines will refuse to accept any single item which weighs more than 32kg or exceeds 94” x 29” x 29” in dimensions.

You should also remember that even if you have a higher weight limit for business or first class travel, if any flights on your itinerary are in economy class, you will be restricted to lower levels for these flights and face excess baggage charges if you exceed them.

It is usually possible to arrange for golf club carriage, but you should advise us in advance of travel, so that we can notify the airline and check for any applicable charges.

Children are permitted their own baggage allowance, but infants are not. However, you are permitted to check in a child buggy for each infant.

If your holiday involves flights on small aircraft e.g. to Mulu or around the African deserts, you may find that you are limited to a small soft bag or a maximum of 10kg. However, it is often possible to store your main luggage at a reasonable charge.

If part of your itinerary involves a coach tour, you may find that you are restricted to one suitcase per person.

Hand baggage

In these days of high security, all airports operate strict hand baggage regulations, which are subject to change at short notice and may vary from one airport to another. However, generally speaking, you should ensure that your hand luggage does not exceed 22" x 18" x 10" in dimensions. Any liquids and gels should be in containers not exceeding 100ml capacity and be placed in a transparent re-sealable bag no larger than 8" x 8".

Remember that duty free liquids purchased after you have passed through immigration at your last point of departure are usually exempt from the 100ml rule. However, if you are connecting to a domestic flight, which requires you to pass through security again, duty free purchases may be confiscated.

Cigarette lighters are not permitted on the aircraft either in the hold or the cabin. Sharp objects such as knives and scissors, toy or replica guns, hypodermic syringes (except if proof of medical need can be shown) should be packed in hold baggage or will be confiscated.

Stopovers and accommodation only

If you’re planning a trip of a life time, it will inevitably involve a long flight with a stopover somewhere else in the world.

A stopover with Premier Holidays could mean so much more than a boring wait in the airport transit lounge - a glimpse of another culture, another lifestyle and a totally different holiday experience to combine with your holiday destination! Our travel advisors are experts in tailor-making holidays and whether you’re booking the full itinerary with us, you just need the stopover part, or even a hotel to fill a gap in your itinerary, we are here to help.

Fly from your local airport

Holidays in this brochure feature international flights from Heathrow and also, when available, from Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow. Many airlines offer departures or connections from regional airports through arrangements with our airline partners and we are pleased to be able to offer regional departures from 18 UK and Ireland airports at very reasonable supplements. Just ask our knowledgeable travel advisors and they will be pleased to provide you with a quotation for your local departure.

To make your journey even more stress-free at your local airport your luggage is, wherever possible, checked through to your final destination, dependent on security restrictions. Your connecting domestic add-on will be booked at the best departure/arrival time to the departure/arrival of your international flight, subject to availability and compliance with connecting time requirements stipulated by the airlines.
