Day 1: Fly to Atlanta. On arrival make your own way to your hotel.

Day 2 Atlanta: Morning city tour during which you'll learn about one of its most famous residents, Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone with the Wind. You will visit the Road to Tara Museum and Stately Oaks Plantation which was the inspiration for the book. See memorabilia from the film including costumes worn by the stars Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh.

Day 3 Atlanta/Charleston: Head west to Augusta, the second oldest city in Georgia and home to the prestigious Masters golf tournament. Arrive in Charleston this afternoon where you'll have time for a stroll down the cobblestone walkways to admire the fine architecture. In the evening, you may wish to take an optional romantic carriage ride or a sunset cruise.

Day 4 Charleston: Enjoy a locally guided tour of Charleston before an afternoon at leisure. Take some time to walk the streets of Charleston's meticulously preserved historic district, or perhaps take an optional excursion to historic Boone Hall Plantation (additional expense).

Day 5 Charleston/Savannah: Travel further south to Savannah, stopping en route on Port Royal Island and Beaufort. Afternoon arrival in Savannah with an historical guided tour to learn of the fascinating history of Savannah's famous antebellum residences.

Day 6 Savannah/Tallahassee: Drive south along the coast passing cites rich in history and charm. In the afternoon you will enter Florida, stopping in the charming city of St Augustine, which was founded in 1565 by Spanish explorers. Continue to Tallahassee, one of the country's smaller, quieter capitals with oak lined streets and soft hills surrounding the city.

Day 7 Tallahassee/New Orleans: Travel along Florida's panhandle to Pensacola, before stopping in Mobile, Alabama and arriving in New Orleans in the evening.

Day 8 New Orleans: Explore this wonderful city at leisure.

Day 9 New Orleans/Natchez: Travel to Baton Rouge for a brief city tour. Continue via the historic Natchez Trace Parkway to Natchez the oldest European settlement on the Mississippi. Visit an antebellum home and learn about the wealthy 19th century owners.

Day 10 Natchez/Memphis: Head to Memphis, a large river port and known as the "Home of the Blues". Enjoy a brief city tour, which includes Beale Street, and perhaps take an optional tour to Graceland (additional cost).

Day 11 Memphis/Nashville: Continue to the Country Music capital of Nashville. Attractions include the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium and studios near Music Row.

Day 12 Nashville/Atlanta: Head to Chattanooga, home to the famous "Choo Choo", before continuing to Atlanta where your tour concludes.
