Day 1: Fly to Nashville. On arrival make your way to your hotel.

Day 2 Nashville: Heralded as the undisputed capital of country music, Nashville's creative vibe is deep-rooted and extends throughout the city to art, culture and food. Attractions include the Country Music Hall of Fame, Music Row, the Ryman Auditorium - where you can even record your own song, and the Grand Ole Opry, where you may be able to catch a performance.

Day 3 Nashville/Chattanooga: Collect your hire car and drive south through Tennessee to Chattanooga, a town immortalised in song thanks to the popular 'Chattanooga Choo Choo' hit. See the original railroad station dating from 1909 and perhaps take a ride on a railcar up to the Lookout Mountain, scene of a Civil War battle (133 miles).

Day 4 Chattanooga/Asheville: Head north east today into North Carolina and Asheville, which is the gateway to the spectacular Great Smoky Mountains National Park (226 miles).

Day 5 Asheville: For lovers of the great outdoors, there are numerous trails and paths within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, offering up amazing vistas. Within the town itself, is the impressive Biltmore Estate, home to the Vanderbilts, which has 250 rooms and encompasses four acres!

Day 6 Asheville/Charleston: Drive towards the coast of South Carolina and the beautiful city of Charleston (268 miles).

Day 7 Charleston: Tour the city by horse-drawn carriage before strolling through the French Quarter and then head for the City Market, which serves as a hub for shopping, sampling and socialising. Art lovers can browse galleries throughout the city while foodies can indulge in authentic Southern fare.

Day 8 Charleston/Savannah: Drive onwards into Georgia and Savannah, the oldest city in the state and the location of one of the largest National Historic Landmark districts in the USA (150 miles).

Day 9 Savannah: Explore this beguiling city which brims with Old World glamour and romance, antebellum mansions and magnolia trees, horse-drawn carriages and ships sailing up the river. Don't miss the 24 historic squares including Johnson Square and Reynolds Square, while River Street is a great place to stroll with its array of restaurants, shops and galleries.

Day 10 Savannah/Macon: Drive west to Macon, a city rich in history, incredible architecture, stunning Southern charm and a soulful musical heritage (166 miles).

Day 11 Macon/Montgomery: Continue west and drive to Montgomery, the capital of Alabama (185 miles).

Day 12 Montgomery: Regarded as the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement, as the King Memorial Baptist church in Dexter Avenue was where Dr Martin Luther King was pastor from 1954-1960. See and learn more at the Civil Rights Memorial Centre or at the Alabama State Archives and History Museum.

Day 13 Montgomery/New Orleans: Travel onwards into Louisiana and the wonderful city of New Orleans (311 miles).

Day 14 New Orleans: A stroll around the atmospheric French Quarter is not to be missed, which includes Bourbon Street and Jackson Square. The Garden District is also worthy of exploration and you may also wish to take a trip on a steamboat along the might Mississippi River.

Day 15 New Orleans: Your tour concludes as you return your car at the airport for your onward journey.
