Four contrasting sides of Australia in eleven nights, beginning with three nights in Melbourne, where laneway cafes, galleries and the free city tram circuit are all on the doorstep. Fly inland for two nights at Uluru, watching the rock shift colour at sunrise and sunset, before three nights in Sydney and its harbour, beaches and world-famous Opera House. Finish with three nights on Hamilton Island, the gateway to the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef.

Days 1-3 Melbourne

Arrive in Melbourne and spend three nights at Batman's Hill on Collins, directly opposite Southern Cross Station and a few minutes' walk from the heart of the city. Explore the street-art laneways and coffee houses of the CBD, browse the Queen Victoria Market and hop on the free City Circle tram to get your bearings. The National Gallery of Victoria, the Royal Botanic Gardens and the bars and restaurants along the Yarra are all within easy reach.

Days 4-5 Uluru

Fly on to Ayers Rock and transfer to Voyages Desert Gardens Hotel, at the gateway to the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Watch the rock change colour at sunrise and sunset, walk the base trail with an Aboriginal guide to hear the stories held in the rock face, and make time for the domes of Kata Tjuta a short drive away. Clear desert skies make this one of the best stargazing spots in the country.

Days 6-8 Sydney

Continue to Sydney for three nights at PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, moments from Chinatown, Sydney Aquarium and the central business district. Take a ferry across the harbour for the classic view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, walk the coastal path from Bondi to Coogee, or head up into the Blue Mountains for the day.

Days 9-11 Hamilton Island

Fly to Hamilton Island for three nights at the Reef View Hotel, with shared transfers included on arrival and departure. This is the gateway to the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef, so snorkel or dive the coral, take a boat or seaplane out to the white silica sands of Whitehaven Beach, or simply make the most of the island's pools and beaches.

Day 12 Depart Hamilton Island

Transfer to Hamilton Island airport for your return flight home.
