Our suggested itinerary is a starting point
We're specialists in tailor-made holidays, where we can adapt each itinerary to suit your requirements
Days 1-2 Melbourne
Arrive in Melbourne and spend two nights at Batman's Hill on Collins, ideally located in the heart of the city. Use your time to explore Federation Square and the vibrant laneways of the CBD, browse the historic Queen Victoria Market, and take a free tram around the city centre. A stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens or a visit to the National Gallery of Victoria are both excellent ways to get your bearings before heading out on the open road.
Days 3-4 Yarra Valley
Pick up your hire car and travel to the Yarra Valley for two nights at Chateau Yering, set among vineyards and gardens. This is Victoria's premier wine region, so make the most of your stay with a cellar door tour and tasting at one of the many boutique wineries. TarraWarra Museum of Art offers a cultural stop amid rolling hillsides.
Days 5-6 Phillip Island
Continue to Phillip Island for two nights at The Waves Apartments. No visit is complete without the famous Penguin Parade at dusk, when little penguins waddle ashore to their burrows, but arrive early to also explore the Nobbies boardwalk and its seal-spotting viewpoints. If you're keen on motorsport, the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is well worth a detour.
Day 7 Lakes Entrance
Drive along the coast to Lakes Entrance for an overnight stay at Waverley House Cottages. Take a scenic cruise across the Gippsland Lakes, walk the boardwalk over to Ninety Mile Beach for uninterrupted sea views, or venture inland to the limestone chambers of Buchan Caves. The town's waterfront is a lovely spot to watch the fishing fleet come in as the sun sets.
Day 8 Merimbula
Continue along the coast to Merimbula for an overnight stay at Robyn's Nest Lakeside Resort. Sample the region's famous oysters straight from the lake, walk the boardwalk that winds along the water's edge, or spend an afternoon on one of the town's sheltered beaches. Between May and November, keep an eye on the horizon for migrating whales passing close to shore.
Days 9-10 Batemans Bay
Travel to Batemans Bay and explore Murramarang National Park, where kangaroos are regularly seen grazing right on the beach, or take a cruise up the Clyde River through tall eucalypt forest. The nearby heritage village of Mogo is worth a wander for its gold-rush history and quirky shops.
Days 11-12 Jervis Bay
Continue north to Jervis Bay for two nights at Paperbark Camp, a luxury eco retreat in the bushland. This is the place for pristine sands, particularly Hyams Beach, which is renowned a renowned as one of the whitest beaches in the world, perfect for a swim or a lazy afternoon. Look out for dolphins in the bay year-round or head into Booderee National Park for coastal walking trails and abundant birdlife.
Days 13-14 Sydney
Complete your drive to Sydney for two nights. Take in the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, whether from the water on a harbour cruise or on foot along the Bridge Climb. The coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee passes some of the city's best beaches and ocean pools, while Darling Harbour and the Royal Botanic Garden offer a slightly quieter side of the city centre.
Day 15 Depart Sydney
Drop off your hire car in Sydney Downtown and transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
