An eighteen-night journey down Australia's east coast, with a two-night Singapore stopover to break the flight. Three nights in Sydney are followed by a self-drive route north through the vineyards of the Hunter Valley and the beaches of Port Stephens, Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay to Brisbane. Fly on to Tropical North Queensland for Port Douglas, the ancient Daintree Rainforest and a final night in Cairns, with the Great Barrier Reef on the doorstep.

Days 1-2
Break the journey with two nights at the Rendezvous Hotel Singapore, a restored colonial building in the Arts and Heritage District, with private return transfers included. Orchard Road's shopping is a ten-minute walk away and an MRT station is closer still, for Gardens by the Bay, the Botanic Gardens or a hawker centre dinner in Chinatown.
Days 3-5 Sydney
Fly on to Sydney for three nights at PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, with a private transfer on arrival. Your included Captain Cook Harbour View Lunch Cruise takes in the Opera House and Harbour Bridge from the water. Ashore there is the Royal Botanic Garden, the Powerhouse Museum and the coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee.
Days 6-7 Hunter Valley
Pick up your hire car and drive north to the Hunter Valley for two nights at Spicers Guesthouse in Pokolbin. This is Australia's oldest wine region, so spend your time on cellar door tastings, take a hot air balloon flight over the vines at dawn, or wander the Hunter Valley Gardens.
Day 8 New South Wales
Continue up the coast to Salamander Bay for a night at Oaks Port Stephens Pacific Blue Resort. Dolphins are resident in the bay year round, and the vast sand dunes at Stockton Bight are worth an afternoon for sandboarding or a 4WD tour.
Day 9 New South Wales
Drive on to Coffs Harbour for an overnight stay at BreakFree Aanuka Beach Resort, set on its own stretch of beachfront. Diggers Beach is a short stroll away, and the Coffs Coast is a good spot for whale watching between June and November.
Days 10-11 Byron Bay
Two nights at Crystalbrook Byron, set in 45 acres of subtropical rainforest just outside town. Walk up to Cape Byron Lighthouse at Australia's most easterly point for sunrise, surf or swim at Wategos and Main Beach, then head into Byron itself for its markets, cafes and galleries.
Day 12 Brisbane
Drop your hire car in Brisbane and stay a night at Hotel Grand Chancellor, on the highest point of the central business district overlooking Roma Street Parklands. South Bank's riverside promenade, galleries and man-made beach are a short walk across the river.
Days 13-15 Port Douglas and Palm Cove
Fly to Cairns, collect your second hire car and drive up to Port Douglas for three nights at Regal Port Douglas, a short walk from Four Mile Beach and the shops and restaurants of Macrossan Street. This is a launch point for the Great Barrier Reef, with snorkelling and diving boats leaving the marina each morning.
Days 16-17 Daintree
Head further north to Daintree Wilderness Lodge for two nights in the world's oldest tropical rainforest. Walk the boardwalks and hidden trails, look for cassowaries and rare birdlife, cool off in a swimming hole, or snorkel off Cape Tribulation where the rainforest meets the reef. Please note the lodge welcomes children aged 10 and over only.
Day 18 Cairns
Return south for a final night at the Mercure Cairns, two blocks from the Esplanade and opposite Cairns Aquarium. The Night Markets, Reef Fleet Terminal and waterfront lagoon are all within a short walk.
Day 19 Depart Cairns
Drop your hire car in Cairns and transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
