Day 1 South Coast Beaches & New South Wales
Fly to Sydney.
Day 2 South Coast Beaches & New South Wales
On arrival make your way to your hotel.
Day 3 South Coast Beaches & New South Wales
Spend the day exploring and ticking off as many city sights as possible. Top of your list is sure to be the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour and The Rocks.
Day 4 South Coast Beaches & New South Wales
Collect your hire car and set off through rainforests, seaside villages and along the curving coastline to Kiama. Here, along with great food, history and beaches, you'll find the Kiama Blowhole, a natural cavity in the fortress-like cliffs that blasts seawater high into the air (76 miles).
Day 5 Kiama
Continue south and perhaps break your journey with a stop in the wildlife haven of Jervis Bay before driving on along the coast towards enchanting Merimbula. If time allows, you can stretch your legs with a lakeside stroll along the Merimbula Boardwalk (208 miles).
Day 6 Merimbula
Cross the border into Victoria for the popular holiday spot of Lakes Entrance, which boasts Australia's largest inland network of waterways (166 miles).
Day 7 Lakes Entrance
Options today include crossing the footbridge to Ninety Mile Beach to enjoy the pristine surf, exploring the lakes in a kayak or joining a boat cruise of the waterways. Renowned as a seafood capital, make sure you savour the catch of the day from one of the town's many eateries.
Day 8 Lakes Entrance
Whether you opt to drive inland or hug the coast, there are ample spots to stop for refreshments and absorb the scenic vistas. Ensure you arrive in time for the nightly Penguin Parade, when the endearing Little Penguins dash home to their burrows across the sand (191 miles).
Day 9 Phillip Island
Before driving on, you may wish to visit one of the island's surf beaches or explore a seaside village or two. Continue to Melbourne (88 miles).
Day 10 Melbourne & Victoria
Regarded as Australia's cultural capital, this is where fashion, music, sport and food are yours to discover.
Day 11 Melbourne & Victoria
A short inland drive brings you to Ballarat, a UNESCO Creative City that has transformed from an historic gold town into a modern hub of arts, culture, food and wine (71 miles).
Day 12 Ballarat
Return to the coast and to Anglesea, a quaint Great Ocean Road surf town with a wide sandy beach as well as abundant flora, native wildlife and coastal walking trails (73 miles).
Day 13 Anglesea
Enjoy a day of spectacular coastline as you follow the Great Ocean Road to the lively seaside village of Port Campbell, home to the famous Twelve Apostles, a group of dramatic rock stacks rising up from the Southern Ocean (94 miles).
Day 14 Port Campbell
Descend the Gibson Steps to the wild beach for a close up views of the immense Twelve Apostles and out across the serene Bay of Islands. Check out also Port Campbell's beach view restaurants and cafés, bakeries jammed with goodies, along with the vibrant shops and galleries.
Day 15 Port Campbell
During today's drive, stop and discover the turbulent history of the Shipwreck Coast and see the infamous Loch Ard shipwreck. Travel into South Australia to Mount Gambier where geological wonders abound (159 miles).
Day 16 Mount Gambier
Discover the dazzling sapphire waters of the famed Blue Lake/Warwar before you drive to Adelaide (270 miles).
Day 17 Adelaide & South Australia
Bursting with culture, flavours, events and entertainment, Adelaide is a perfect place to end your epic road trip. Browse the markets, spend time at the beach in Glenelg or, maybe head to the award-winning wineries in nearby Adelaide Hills.
Day 18 Adelaide & South Australia
Return to the airport where the tour concludes with your onward journey.
