Days 1-4 Perth
Fly into Perth and settle into the stylish QT Perth for three nights, exploring the city and its surrounds at your leisure. Wander through Kings Park for sweeping views over the Swan River and city skyline, browse the boutiques and cafes of Cottesloe Beach or spend a day in historic Fremantle exploring its markets. A ferry across to Rottnest Island is a must-do for a close encounter with the island's resident quokkas, as well as its clear turquoise bays perfect for snorkelling and cycling.
Days 4-6 Mandurah
Collect your Mighty Double Down 4-berth motorhome and begin your self-drive journey with two nights in Mandurah. Consider a cruise around the Peel-Harvey Estuary in search of playful bottlenose dolphins or paddle a kayak out to see the ancient thrombolites, some of the oldest living organisms on Earth. The town's canals and waterfront promenade make for a relaxed stroll, with plenty of cafes and seafood restaurants to enjoy along the way.
Days 6-8 Yallingup
Continue to Yallingup for two nights, taking in the region's beaches and surf breaks. Explore the limestone formations of Ngilgi Cave, walk out to the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse for panoramic coastal views or watch the swell roll in at Yallingup Beach, one of the state's best-known surf spots.
Days 8-10 Margaret River
Spend two nights in the Margaret River wine region, sampling local wineries and produce. This is one of Australia's premier wine growing areas, so make time for cellar door tastings, a visit to the Margaret River Chocolate Company or a browse of the local farmers' markets. Underground, the Mammoth and Lake Caves offer a fascinating look at the region's karst landscape, while surfers and beach lovers will enjoy the pristine sands at Prevelly and Gnarabup.
Days 10-12 Pemberton
Travel on to Pemberton amid the towering karri forests. Test your nerve on the Gloucester Tree, a giant karri once used as a fire lookout that visitors can still climb, or take a gentler stroll through the Big Brook Arboretum. Consider a cruise along the Warren River beneath the forest canopy by boat or canoe.
Days 12-15 Albany
Finish your journey with three nights in Albany where you can walk the Ancient Empire treetop trail through the Valley of the Giants, relax on the white sands of Middleton Beach or head inland to the Porongurup and Stirling Range National Parks for some of the best bushwalking in the south west before returning your motorhome and making your way home.
