Lombok charms with exquisite beaches, epic surf and Mount Rinjani's soaring peak. Senggigi is the main tourist hub, with Desert Point's big waves nearby, while tranquil Medana Bay offers pristine sands and views of the Gili Islands. The trio of Gili Islands — Trawangan, Air and Meno — boast superb snorkelling and diving amidst turtles and reef sharks, plus idyllic white beaches. Inland, discover traditional Sasak villages or trek Mount Rinjani, a sacred volcanic peak with lush forests and a crescent-shaped crater lake.
While April to October is considered the best time, there is never a bad time to travel to Lombok, as it’s generally warm throughout the year. Although more rain tends to fall from November to March, it’s usually a short, tropical downpour.
