Days 1-2 Auckland
Day 3 Auckland
On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. This evening, meet your fellow travellers for dinner.
Days 4-5 Bay of Islands
Depart Auckland and travel to Matakohe for a visit and informative talk at the Kauri Museum. Travel via Whangarei to Paihia, in the heart of the beautiful Bay of Islands. Enjoy a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the location of the signing of the treaty between the Māori tribes and the British Government in 1840. A selection of optional activities are available, including the Cape Reinga coach trip via Ninety Mile Beach or a spectacular scenic flight (both at extra expense).
Cruise through the beautiful Bay of Islands aboard a luxury catamaran to Cape Brett, where a historic lighthouse keeps watch over Piercy Island, or as also popularly known, the 'Hole in the Rock'. Return to Paihia and travel south via Whangarei to Auckland.
Day 7 Auckland
This morning, enjoy a city sights tour before journeying through the picturesque countryside to Hobbiton. After lunch a guided tour will take you past whimsical Hobbit Holes, the Mill and into the Green Dragon Inn. You can also venture beyond the door and into an authentic Hobbit Hole interior for a fully immersive experience.
Days 8-9 Rotorua
Begin with a gondola ride and breakfast at Skyline Rotorua where spectacular views are on offer. There is also time for a thrilling luge ride! Next stop is Agrodome for an action-packed hour of unique farming entertainment and education. Enjoy some free time this afternoon before travelling to Te Puia to see the boiling mud pools and awesome geysers that Rotorua is famous for. This evening look forward to a Hāngi feast, prepared in the traditional way, followed by an entertaining Māori cultural performance featuring the ferocious 'Haka'.
Day 10 Napier
Travel along the Thermal Explorer Highway to Huka Falls and Lake Taupo. Continue to Napier known as 'The Art Deco Capital', with its comprehensive array of Art Deco buildings. Board the Hawke's Bay Express for informative commentary on the city's fascinating history, followed by free time to explore.
Days 11-12 Wellington
This morning, travel south to Wellington. A highlight will be time to explore Gallipoli: A Scale of War exhibition at Te Papa, New Zealand's National Museum. Cutting edge technology brings these stories to life through the eyes of New Zealanders who found themselves in extraordinary circumstances. Later, embark on a city tour of New Zealand's capital, showcasing its rich history and vibrant culture. This evening, reminisce on memories shared with your new friends at the farewell dinner.
Day 13 Wellington
The tour sadly reaches its conclusion as you are transferred to the airport for your onward journey.
