Days 1-2 Auckland
Day 3 Auckland
Transfer to your hotel and meet fellow travellers.
Days 3-4 Bay of Islands
Travel to Matakohe to visit the Kauri Museum. Travel on via Whangarei to Paihia, in the beautiful Bay of Islands for a tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. The next day, optional activities include a Cape Reinga coach trip via Ninety Mile Beach or a spectacular scenic flight (both at extra expense). Explore the Bay Islands from aboard a luxury catamaran. See the famous ‘Hole in the Rock’ and keep your eyes peeled for marine life. From Paihia, travel via Whangarei back to Auckland.
Day 5 Auckland
Embark on a city sights tour of Auckland, before a picturesque drive to Hobbiton. On your guided tour here, you can even venture into an authentic Hobbit Hole!
Days 6-7 Rotorua
Begin with a gondola ride and breakfast at Skyline Rotorua, plus a thrilling luge ride! Next visit the Agrodome, for farming entertainment and education like no other. Continue to Te Puia to see the boiling mud pools and awesome geysers for which Rotorua is renowned.
Day 8 Napier
Drive to Huka Falls and Lake Taupo, then to Napier, which has the most comprehensive collection of Art Deco buildings in the world. Learn of the city’s fascinating history and enjoy free time to explore.
Day 9 Wellington
On arrival in Wellington, a city tour highlights its history and culture. At Te Papa, New Zealand’s National Museum, enjoy the varied exhibits.
Day 10 Kaikoura
Board the Interislander Ferry and travel through the Marlborough Sounds to Picton. Board your coach for the next leg of the journey, stopping for a night win Kaikoura.
Day 11 Christchurch
Enjoy a leisurely morning in this seaside village, hailed as a top spot to see sperm whales and other marine mammals. Continue to Christchurch where you have a city tour. Board the TranzAlpine for one of the world’s great train journeys over massive viaducts, river valleys and spectacular gorges into the Southern Alps. Board your coach and travel to Hokitika and on via Franz Josef to Fox Glacier.
Day 12 Fox Glacier
Spend a night in Fox Glacier, where you will see the snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps as you travel along the West Coast. Continue via the stunningly beautiful Haast Pass into picturesque Queenstown.
Days 13-14 Queenstown
Explore Queenstown at leisure, with optional activities available (at extra expense). In the evening board a vintage steamship and cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station for dinner. Enjoy free time before travelling to Arrowtown, an old gold mining village where you visit the Lakes District Museum. Continue to Te Anau, where you may wish to visit the Te Anau Glowworm Caves (at extra expense).
Days 15-16 Te Anau
Drive to Milford Sound for a cruise on this magnificent fiord. See spectacular Bowen Falls and towering Mitre Peak before returning to Te Anau.
Day 17 Dunedin
Travel to Dunedin where you have a city tour. Continue along the Otago Peninsula to Larnach Castle for a guided tour, delicious high tea and stroll in the gardens.
Day 18 Mt Cook
Bid farewell to Dunedin and travel to Oamaru famous for its limestone. Follow the Waitaki River and see Lake Benmore as you head to soaring Mount Cook.
Day 19 Christchurch
Marvel at New Zealand’s highest peak and maybe take a scenic flight over the Southern Alps (at extra expense). Drive on to Lake Tekapo before reaching Christchurch.
Day 20 Christchurch
Bid farewell to your new friends as your tour concludes.
