Lying just over 12 miles off Mahe's western coast, Silhouette Island is the third largest in the Seychelles archipelago, yet despite its proximity to the main island, Silhouette is the most undeveloped and most remote of the Seychelles' inhabited islands.Numerous mountain peaks dominate the seascape and their densely vegetated and forested slopes give way to spectacular beaches whose powdery white sands are dotted with huge granite boulders. Encircled by coral reefs, Silhouette is also a Marine National Park with an extravaganza of marine life including barracudas, rays, lionfish, hawksbill turtles, white-tip sharks and parrotfish, making it ideal for snorkelling as well as diving.

Generally the considered best times to visit are March/April or October/November as the weather is most settled. June to September, though usually dry, can be very windy.
