Our suggested itinerary is a starting point
We're specialists in tailor-made holidays, where we can adapt each itinerary to suit your requirements
Day 1 Cape Town
Meet your guide and the journey gets underway as you travel along Sir Lowry's Pass, which offers magnificent views to Grabouw and Elgin. Continue to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Continue via historic Swellendam and the Tradouw Pass to Barrydale and the famous Route 62 before arriving in Outdtshoorn, the 'ostrich feather capital' and centre of the world's ostrich farming industry.
Day 2 Oudtshoorn
After a leisurely breakfast, take a tour of the spectacular limestone caverns of the Cango Caves, one of the world's great natural wonders. Join a fun-filled interactive guided tractor tour at a working ostrich farm, which is followed by a wine tasting of top-quality regional wines.
Day 3 Oudtshoorn
Travel over via the panoramic Outeniqua Pass to George, the sixth oldest town in South Africa. Here, visit the Outeniqua Transport Museum for a unique insight to the Garden Route's railway history. Later, continue via Wilderness to Knysna, hailed as the oyster box of South Africa and nestling on the banks of a beautiful lagoon. After a delicious lunch of traditional cuisine and local treats, enjoy some free time before an afternoon sunset cruise on the Knysna Lagoon.
Day 4 Knysna
See more of the Garden Route's natural beauty as you continue your travels today. Visit Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, an award-winning sanctuary known for its efforts to rehabilitate and free previously caged primates. A portion of this TRAVEL WITH A PURPOSE Activity, goes towards ensuring that these already endangered species can survive and reproduce for a future reintroduction into the wild.
Travel onwards to Eastern Head, for magnificent views of the Knysna Heads (weather permitting) and then travel to Brenton on Sea, a breathtaking holiday location and a nature lover's paradise with unspoilt beaches and peaceful surroundings. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore independently.
Day 5 Knysna
Travel to Plettenberg Bay, considered the jewel of the Garden Route. En route, stop at Mungo, a family-owned and managed textile mill and then head to the Birds of Eden Sanctuary, the biggest single free flight aviary in the world. A portion of the price of this TRAVEL WITH A PURPOSE Activity goes towards protecting genetically pure species of various Taxa. The journey then continues to Bloukrans Bridge, which currently offers the highest commercially operated Bungee Jump in the world.
Next, is Tsitsikamma National Park and Storms River Mouth (weather permitting). The Tsitsikamma National Park incorporates rocky coastline with spectacular sea and landscapes, a remote mountainous region with secluded valleys covered in Fynbos and temperate high forests with deep river gorges leading to the sea.
Day 6 Tsitsikamma
Head eastwards along the Tsitsikamma Forest to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), affectionately known as the 'friendly city'. Enjoy a city tour before the tour concludes.
