Day 1 Johannesburg & Pretoria
Morning departure. Travel south across the gold fields of Witwatersrand and the broad grasslands of the Highveld. Join fellow guests in the dining car before settling back and soaking up the impressive scenery before afternoon tea and a delicious dinner.
Day 2 Kimberley
This morning, admire the changing panoramas and then look forward to lunch. During the afternoon stop in Kimberley, tour Kimberley's Diamond Mine Museum and the Big Hole (the world's largest man-made excavation), before returning to the train for dinner.
Day 3 Whitehall Siding
Travel through the vast semi-arid desert Karoo region to Whitehall Siding where you may wish to disembark for an accompanied three mile walk to Matjiesfontein, an authentically preserved Victorian village. Alternatively disembark at Matjiesfontein itself where you have time to explore and can visit the impressive museum on the platform. Return to the train for tea and later look forward to another mouthwatering dinner as the train heads down the escarpment towards Worcester.
Day 4 Cape Town
Feast on breakfast whilst travelling through the Hex River Valley before this amazing journey concludes with arrival in Cape Town at 10am.
