Day 1 Johannesburg & Pretoria
Fly to Johannesburg.
Day 2 Johannesburg & Pretoria
On arrival transfer to your hotel.
Day 3 Johannesburg & Pretoria
After an early morning departure, today's long drive to the Mpumalanga Province takes you past the small town of Waterval Boven, which nestles in the Drakenberg Mountains. Continue through spectacular scenery to the historic logging town of Sabie and visit the beautiful Mac-Mac Falls before arriving into Hazyview late afternoon, which is the safari hub of Kruger National Park.
Day 4 Kruger
This morning's drive along the scenic Panorama Route includes the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes and the historic God's Window. The afternoon is at leisure.
Day 5 Kruger
Set off early on a thrilling open vehicle safari in search of wildlife. Keep watch for the Big Five - lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard, along with all manner of birds and plant species. The safari includes a visit to the Anti-Poaching Dog Unit and a portion of this TRAVEL WITH A PURPOSE activity price goes toward ensuring dogs receive the best possible care. The afternoon is at leisure or, you may wish to take an additional safari (extra expense).
Day 6 eSwatini
Drive to eSwatini, an independent kingdom within South Africa's borders. An interactive cultural experience will introduce you to the kingdom's charming people and their traditions. Visit the Ngwenya glass factory and then travel on to the beautiful Ezulwini Valley.
Day 7 Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve
Visit the Swazi candle factory before re-entering South Africa and embarking on a long drive into Zululand, passing traditional round huts and endless vistas. Arrive mid-afternoon in the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi game reserve, which is famous for its conservation of black and white rhino. You have the option to enjoy an afternoon open vehicle game safari (at extra expense).
Day 8 Durban
Depart for Durban, a journey which takes you past traditional Zulu Kraals, eucalyptus plantations and sugar cane fields. A short flight from Duban takes you to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where you head westwards along the Garden Route for Tsitsikamma.
Day 9 Tsitsikamma
Visit the spectacularly beautiful Tsitsikamma National Park and Storms River Mouth (weather permitting), before travelling on to Mungo, a family-owned and managed textile producer in Plettenberg Bay. Drive onwards to Knysna, known as the oyster box of South Africa, and look forward to a sunset cruise to the Knysna Heads, before dinner at Drydock Restaurant.
Day 10 Oudtshoorn
Begin with a visit to the Outeniqua Transport Museum in George, which showcases the Garden Route's railway history. En route to Oudtshoorn, visit 'Dolphin Point, an extraordinary viewpoint in Wilderness and on reaching Outdtshoorn, enjoy a fun-filled interactive tour at an ostrich farm. This is followed by a tour of the spectacular limestone caverns of the Cango Caves, one of the world's great natural wonders.
Day 11 Hermanus
Early this morning you may wish to join a Meerkat Safari (extra expense), which is a Make Travel Matter Experience. After breakfast, drive through the Little Karoo to Barrydale to visit a local farm school with monies from the tour price going towards the Barrydale Farm School Development Fund (subject to school opening). Continue via the Tradouw's pass to Welledam and then on to the seaside resort Hermanus, offering the best land-based whale watching (Aug-Nov) in the world).
Day 12 Stellenbosch
Depart for Somerset West, travelling via the scenic coastal road, and then towards Stellenbosch in the beautiful Cape Winelands. Enjoy free time to explore the town's oak-shaded streets, cafes, boutiques and art galleries before driving on to Cape Town.
Day 13 Cape Town
At leisure. Perhaps join a tour to Table Mountain or a tour of Robben Island & Cape Town's Apartheid History (both at extra expense). Alternatively, stroll around the V&A Waterfront, or explore one of the many craft markets.
Day 14 Cape Peninsula
Look forward to a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula, known for its spectacular coastal scenery. Drive through Sea Point, the seaside village of Hout Bay and then to Cape Point where it is said the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Return to Cape Town via Simon's Town to visit Boulders Beach for close encounters with penguins (entrance fee is at extra expense).
Day 15 Cape Town
Your tour concludes with a transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
