Each season has its charms but generally the weather is mild and wineries are open year round. If you want to experience the excitement of harvest visit between late August and October; head there in the autumn (September-November) and watch the dramatic colour change of the countryside; January to March is the quietest time, so perfect if you seek a leisurely experience, although the weather can be more variable with rain likely. Spring and summer are popular times to visit, with festivals and events aplenty, particularly during summer.
