Words can hardly do justice to Yellowstone National Park, whose dynamic geothermal forces, lurking just below the surface, gave rise to its dramatic collection of mountains, rivers, canyons, springs and the world’s largest concentration of geysers and thermal features. One of its star attractions is the Old Faithful Geyser, which erupts around 20 times a day with water soaring up to 180 feet. Yellowstone is open year round, however many roads are closed Nov-Apr, although visitors can travel in snowcoaches. Summer is hot and very crowded, while late spring and early autumn are cooler.
