2 nts Parkroyal Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur

Superior room with breakfast

Once little more than mud and marsh, compact Kuala Lumpur is a fast rising metropolis which effortlessly blends its colonial past with space-age towers and mega malls. KL, as it's fondly known, is best explored on foot or via the excellent public transport network including buses, metro (Light Rail Transit) and a monorail making it easy to get around. Taxis are also available, but as the roads can be busy, they may prove be a more expensive option.

At its historic heart is Merdeka Square (Independence Square). Ringed by handsome colonial-era buildings, including the Royal Selangor Club and Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the square marks the place where the Malaysian flag was first hoisted after independence from British rule in 1957. Other notable buildings include the imposing Old Railway Station and the highly acclaimed Jamek Mosque, which is a vision of soaring minarets and onion-shaped domes.

KL’s Golden Triangle is comprised of Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and Chinatown. It’s in modern KLCC where you’ll find the eye-catching Petronas Twin Towers. Soaring 88 storeys, you can take in the sweeping vistas from the sky bridge linking the two towers at the 41st and 42nd floors. Alternatively, for skyline views including the Petronas Twin Towers hotfoot it to the higher observation deck of the Menara KL Tower.

Swanky Bukit Bintang is chock-a-block with shopping malls and boutiques as well as trendy cafés, restaurants and nightspots. There’s more high end fashion in the KLCC or at Berjaya Times Square, while Petaling Street in colourful Chinatown is a bargain-hunter’s paradise, particularly the lively night market.

Food is without a doubt a highlight of any visit to KL, with so many opportunities to feast on diverse local and international cuisine. Expect everything from award-winning gourmet restaurants with menus from around the world, to chic bistros and traditional street stalls that tempt with a choice of inexpensive dishes.

3 nts Mandarin Orchard, Singapore

FREE upgrade to Superior Deluxe

An effortlessly sophisticated city, Singapore has a dizzying assortment of attractions packed into its characterful districts. Whether you’re looking to explore the history, tour iconic landmarks, shop round the clock or dive into the city’s famous cuisine, you’ll find a new experience waiting around every corner.

Check-out popular Chinatown, a haven for foodies, shoppers and history buffs; delve into Little India with its rainbow painted houses and Hindu temples; spend some time in hip Tiong Bahru; admire the colourful shophouses and traditional food stalls in Joo Chiat; or visit the Civic District for museums and memorials then pop into Raffles Hotel for a Singapore Sling.

In Marina Bay, impressive architecture, swanky hotels and glass-fronted offices dot the skyline. Soak up unobstructed 360-degree views from Sands SkyPark Observation Deck at the noteworthy Marina Bay Sands, or take a scenic spin on the Singapore Flyer. Marvel at the futuristic beauty of Gardens by the Bay or head to the waterfront Merlion Park for a view of Singapore’s unmissable icon.

Spend time at the award-winning Singapore Zoo, where animals roam freely in their natural habitats. Try the Rainforest Walking Trail at Singapore’s Botanic Garden or hop on the cable car to Sentosa Island for golden beaches, a waterpark, golf and Universal Studios Singapore.

If shopping for luxury labels or high street favourites, Orchard Road beckons. For less mass-market shopping, try out local neighbourhoods where independent boutiques, quirky art galleries and bustling markets await you.

Singapore’s rich dining scene features a mix of authentic local fare at hawker centres and slap-up meals in Chinatown to celebrity chef or Michelin-star experiences. You can also dine alfresco in lively Clarke Quay before painting the town red or chill out with a cocktail or two at an array of fabulous rooftop bars.

Perfect as a standalone destination, Singapore can also be combined with numerous Far East or Middle East options for the holiday of your dreams.

7 nts Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort and Spa, Sabah

FREE upgrade to Garden Wing Deluxe Sea View with breakfast

Wherever you venture in the world there really is nowhere like Borneo. A truly great destination which has something to offer everyone from soft adventures to wildlife encounters. Straddling the equator and dominated by luxuriant rainforest, Borneo is a unique destination that provides a visual feast at every turn. The Malaysian portion is an exotic paradise comprised of two states, Sabah and Sarawak, boasting extraordinary landscapes, ancient tribes and astonishing wildlife.

Sabah may be the smaller of the two states but has a wealth of natural riches to explore including some of Borneos most beautiful beaches. Picture white sand stretching almost as far as the eye can see with a dense jungle-covered outcrop in the near distance. The gentle water is a playground for swimmers whilst diving enthusiasts will love the abundance of coral reefs and marine life.

One of Sabahs most iconic attractions is Mount Kinabalu National Park, a significant natural environment  dominated by Mount Kinabalu. Sabah's state capital, Kota Kinabalu, is a coastal city located on the west coast partly surrounded by rainforest. It's known for its bustling markets, modern boardwalk and waterfront Kota Kinabalu City Mosque.

Sabah's other highlight is of course the world famous Sepilok Orang-Utan Sanctuary where visitors can watch these adorable animals close up in their natural environment. A trip here is highly recommended.
