The facts:

Getting there: Heho is the nearest airport to Inle Lake and flights take around 1 hour 10 minutes from Yangon or just 35 minutes from Mandalay. The drive from Heho to Inle Lake takes approximately 45 minutes followed by a long-tailed speedboat ride to your hotel if you are staying on the lake itself.

Best time to travel: Because of the altitude expect a cool climate with some chilly early mornings and evenings, particularly during January and February. The wettest period falls between May and September, however even during the dry season some rain can be expected. October to February is considered the peak time to visit with temperatures abating after monsoon.
