Cape Town, Garden Route and Dubai
Duration: 13 nights independent tour
Price from: £1799pp
Solo traveller price from: £2399
Day 1: Fly to Cape Town.
Day 2 Cape Town: On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Days 3-4 Cape Town: Two days to independently explore. Not to be missed is Robben Island (pre-booking your ticket is highly recommended), the cable car ride to the summit of Table Mountain (weather permitting) for panoramic views and the buzz of the V&A Waterfront.
Day 5 Cape Town/Stellenbosch: Collect your hire car and begin the scenic drive (approx 1 hour) to the exceptional winelands region, which overflows with history and picturesque vineyards extending as far as the eye can see. Charming Stellenbosch is the hub of the region and its streets are lined with some of the most beautiful surviving examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian architecture in the Cape.
Day 6 Stellenbosch: The name ‘Stellenbosch’ is almost synonymous with the wine industry and the town’s wine route comprises five different options encompassing some 100 estates, which are open to the public. There’s also a collection of galleries, museums and fantastic restaurants.
Day 7 Stellenbosch/Mossel Bay: Drive eastwards to Mossel Bay (approx 4 hours), considered the starting point of the Garden Route. This bustling town and port overlooks an expansive bay backed by the Outeniqua Mountains.
Day 8 Mossel Bay/Knysna: Short drive (approx 1½ hours) to Knysna, a natural paradise of lush, indigenous forests, tranquil lakes and golden beaches, nestling on a breathtakingly pretty lagoon.
Days 9-10 Knysna: Be sure to visit The Heads, a striking geological feature made up of a pair of huge brightly coloured cliffs flanking a channel of water that flows into Knysna’s lagoon. Knysna’s main street is lined with boutiques and shops while the harbour area has most of the town’s bars and restaurants. Additionally, if you’re visiting between August and September you may see Southern Right whales along with other whale species.
Day 11 Knysna/Port Elizabeth/Dubai: Drive to Port Elizabeth and return your car at the airport. Fly via Johannesburg to Dubai and transfer to your hotel.
Alternatively, an optional Eastern Cape safari extension is also available (see below).
Days 12-14 Dubai: We highly recommend booking an excursion into the desert interior for some exhilarating dune driving. Those with a head for heights shouldn't miss the soaring Burj Khalifa, while other attractions include shopping at a traditional souk or at one of the vast malls. Fun for all the family awaits at Wild Wadi Waterpark, Aquaventure or Dubai Parks™ and Resorts. Of course you may simply opt to relax on the beautiful beaches.
Day 15 Dubai: Your tour ends with a transfer to the airport for your onward journey. Or, perhaps extend your stay?
