Day 1: Fly to Cape Town.
Day 2 Cape Town: On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 3 Cape Town: At leisure to explore. Why not book a Cape Town City Tour (see page 19) in order to gain an insight into the magic of the Mother City. Also not to be missed is the cable car ride to the summit of Table Mountain (weather permitting) for unimaginable panoramic views; the country's oldest building, The Castle, and the lively Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, with its shops, restaurants and attractions.
Day 4 Cape Town: A further day at leisure. Another popular landmark is Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela, amongst others, was imprisoned (pre-booking recommended). Alternatively, take a tour and spend the day exploring the incredibly scenic Cape Peninsula or Stellenbosch Winelands. Or, stay in the city to visit a museum or perhaps browse a colourful market.
Day 5 Cape Town/Kruger National Park: Transfer to the airport for a flight to Hoedspruit. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Elandela, a private game sanctuary which lies adjacent to Kruger National Park and also offers sweeping views of the nearby Drakensberg Mountains. After time to relax and settle in to your suite head off for a late afternoon game drive in search of African wildlife.
Days 6-7 Kruger National Park: Each day you have two game drives in open safari vehicles accompanied by an experienced ranger. Rhino, lion, leopard, buffalo and hippo can all be spotted in the reserve whilst game drives into the surrounding Kruger National Park give the chance for further spectacular game sightings. Between the morning and afternoon game drive you will have time to take a dip in the inviting pool then lie back and watch as giraffe, zebra and baboons quench their thirst from the nearby lake. Elandela is also home to the Elandela Rhino Survivor Trust which aims to protect African rhinoceros and is currently home to Roccy and Clova, who were both orphaned as calves.
Day 8 Kruger National Park/Johannesburg: A final morning game drive before an afternoon road transfer to Johannesburg (approx 5 hours 30 minutes drive). Alternatively flights are available from Hoedspruit at a supplement.
Day 9 Johannesburg/Mauritius: Fly to Mauritius, a spectacular island of white sand beaches, sugar cane fields, sparkling lagoons, verdant forests and volcanic hills. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Days 10-15 Mauritius: Six full days at leisure. While you may wish for nothing more than to laze beside the pool or stretch out on the sands, you will find options should you prefer to keep active or explore further afield. Watersport enthusiasts can indulge with sailing, windsurfing, waterskiing, snorkelling and diving; deep sea fishing trips are also available as are boat excursions to nearby islands; while on land there’s golf, tennis, canyoning, hiking and trekking opportunities. Port Louis, the island’s capital is well worth a visit with its many well-preserved historic and colonial buildings, bustling markets and not forgetting Palmplemousse Botanical Gardens, which lie just outside the city.
