Day 1: Fly to Delhi.
Day 2 Delhi: Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. Later, meet your travel director and fellow guests over dinner.
Day 3 Delhi: This morning visit Old Delhi, once the capital of the Mughal Empire with its stunning masterpieces of architecture. See the Red Fort which served as the residence of the emperors for 200 years. Later, visit the Jama Mosque, another example of magnificent Mughal architecture and also one of India’s largest mosques. Hop onto a rickshaw to explore Old Delhi further and get a closer look at the locals going about their daily work. Continue by coach to New Delhi and drive past several government buildings before arriving at Humayun’s Fort.
Day 4 Delhi: A full day to discover Delhi at your own pace. Optional tours are available, including a full day Old Delhi Food Tour with a visit to Qutub Minar or, tour 14th century Nizamuddin Village, known for its narrow lanes, tombs, pilgrims, cuisine, spiritual music, bustling markets and mosques (both tours additional expense).
Day 5 Delhi/Jaipur: Depart this morning for Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. On arrival, relax at the hotel or perhaps venture out and explore the local market.
Day 6 Jaipur: Choose to make an early start for an optional experience to observe a typical morning for many Hindus, which includes temple prayers and the daily shop (additional expense). After breakfast, rejoin your fellow travellers for a visit to the Amber Fort, once the residence of Rajput rulers and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, make a brief stop at the Palace of Winds, built to enable ladies of the royal household to watch city life without being seen. The afternoon is free or there is the option to join a heritage walking tour (additional expense).
Day 7 Jaipur/Ranthambore: Travel to Ranthambore National Park. After lunch, join a game drive in this wildlife reserve famous for its tigers. Other wildlife includes boar, deer, hyenas, monkeys, leopards and 300 bird species.
Day 8 Ranthambore: Enjoy two further game drives. Aside from the wildlife there are also ruins of bygone era scattered around as well as the majestic 1,000 year old Ranthambore Fort located atop a hill overlooking the park.
Day 9 Ranthambore/Agra: Depart for Agra, stopping en route for lunch at a local restaurant in Bharathpur. The afternoon is free to relax in Agra or consider an optional trip to Agra Fort (additional expense).
Day 10 Agra/Delhi: Rise early for a visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise when its white marble exterior reflects rose and golden tints. Return to the hotel for breakfast and a morning at leisure. Travel to Delhi this afternoon. Optional Varanasi side trip (see below).
Day 11 Delhi: Your tour concludes with a transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
