Day 1: Fly to Singapore.

Day 2 Singapore: On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free, so you may wish to wander around bustling Chinatown, view the skyline from the Singapore Flyer or browse the shops of Orchard Road.

Day 3 Singapore/Cruise: Enjoy time to continue sightseeing or take time to relax before you transfer to the port to board Diamond Princess.

Day 4 At sea: For those keen to stay busy or active there are numerous enrichment programmes and sports facilities, while for those who prefer to lounge around, there’s ample deck space and four inviting pools.

Day 5 Ho Chi Minh City (Phu My), Vietnam: This bustling metropolis on the Mekong River rings to the cries of street hawkers and honking horns while friendly faces greet you everywhere. City attractions include Notre Dame Cathedral and Cholon (Chinatown), while nearby is the fascinating Mekong Delta with its floating markets and the incredible Cu Chi Tunnels, which were used as hideouts by the Vietnamese army during the Vietnam War.

Day 6 Nha Trang, Vietnam: Popular Nha Trang offers palm-lined, white sand beaches lapped by azure waters. If lazing on the beach isn’t for you, optional excursions allow you to see some of the surrounding countryside, cruise the Cai River or visit a vibrant market.

Day 7 Danang/Hue (Chan May), Vietnam: The port of Chan May sits halfway between the internationally- renowned resort of Danang and the imperial city of Hue. Optional excursions include tours of Hue or the UNESCO World Heritage Listed city of Hoi An, a cruise on the Perfume River or a visit to the Marble Mountains.

Day 8 At sea: Sporting pursuits are available to those who don’t like to sit around, but for those that do, padded loungers invite you to unwind beside the pool or hot tub.

Days 9-10 Hong Kong: Skyscrapers form a glistening forests of steel and glass, junks and sampans ply the busy waters, while the narrow streets are crammed with vendors. Visit fabled Stanley Market, take a ride on the Star Ferry or board the funicular railway to Victoria Peak where panoramic views await you.

Day 11 At sea: Why not treat yourself at the spa, visit the art gallery, take part in a class or, simply laze poolside. Day 12 Taipei (Keelung), Taiwan: The sophisticated city of Taipei has many impressive monuments, temples and museums to explore. Other nearby attractions include Yang Ming Shan National Park and Yehilu Geographic Park with its otherworldly rock formations.

Days 13-14 At sea: Head to the library where you’ll find a wide selection, from classics to today’s best sellers.

Day 15 Osaka (for Kyoto), Japan: Modern Osaka is home to monuments such as Toyotomi’s immense castle and the Sumiyoshi Shrine. The city is also your gateway to Kyoto, Japan’s ancient imperial capital and the nation’s cultural and spiritual centre.

Day 16 Toba, Japan: Regarded as the birthplace of cultured pearls, visit Mikimoto Pearl Island to learn all about the pearling industry. There’s also a large aquarium while nearby is Ise where you can see Ise Jingu Shrine.

Day 17 Tokyo (Yokohama), Japan: Morning arrival in Yokohama and, after disembarking, you will be transferred to your hotel in Tokyo. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore, so perhaps visit the Sensoji Temple, the Tokyo Tower or Imperial Palace Plaza.

Day 18 Tokyo: Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

Accommodation: 1 night before your cruise at Park Hotel Clarke Quay, Singapore; 14nights in an interior stateroom aboard Diamond Princess and 1 night after your cruise at Villa Fontaine, Tokyo.
