Bush Camp 1 night
Day 1 Chiang Mai/Bush Camp: Morning transfer from the airport or hotels in Chiang Mai to the Bush Camp (approximately 2 hours by road). Arrive at the camp late morning and after settling in, enjoy a delicious Thai lunch. This afternoon's activities are set around the Bush Camp's Elephant and Mahout Experience and include a visit to the 'free-roaming chain-free' Elephant Park, where you interact with Asia's largest land animal. There's also time to relax in the Elephant Cafe and watch as these gentle giants roam peacefully in front of you. Later, learn all about the life of the mahouts, seeing how they live together with nature and their elephants. Experience their traditions by watching their families pound rice, weave their own clothes and go about their daily life. You'll have the chance to sample some of their cooking and help them make paper from elephant dung! Enjoy a sundowner on one of the many mountain-top viewpoints before returning to the Camp for a buffet dinner of freshly prepared Thai and western dishes.
Day 2 Bush Camp/Chiang Mai: After breakfast, transfer to the 'free roaming forest' and sample 'Kafee Boran" and 'kanom krok', traditional coffee and breakfast snacks enjoyed by the mahouts. Observe how the elephants are cared for and enjoy watching them have their morning wash before learning more about the work with the elephants at the camp. Understand more about good animal husbandry techniques and how veterinary care is administered. After a full morning of activities, return for one final lunch before your tour concludes with a transfer to your Chiang Mai hotel or airport.
