Philippines Holidays
Thousands of islands scattered around the azure blue waters of the Philippine Sea and the South China Sea, eternally warmed by the tropical sun, make up the Philippines. Add to this happy-go-lucky people, incredible natural wonders and a lifestyle of festivals and music and you have an intriguing recipe for enjoyment and relaxation.
Boasting over 7,000 islands, the Philippines may be a beach lover’s delight but look past the dreamy sands and you’ll find a land of unique culture, lush green rice fields, lively cities, simmering volcanoes, amazing underground rivers, outstanding diving and wonderful wildlife.
If you fancy lazing on a tropical beach your only dilemma will be which one to lay your towel upon. With dazzling sands and impossibly blue waters Boracay is sure to be high on the list. It also has a wealth of bars and restaurants, a renowned nightlife and adventure sports aplenty.
Cebu is similarly blessed with fine beaches and fantastic diving opportunities, plus Cebu City also has historic sights to explore.
For something more far-flung opt for Bohol or Palawan, which lure with endless white sand beaches, cool crystal waters, a tranquil ambience and stunning sights above and under the sea. In Bohol, you can also tour the famous Chocolate Hills or drop in to the Philippine Tarsier and Wildlife Sanctuary to see these-bug eyed primates. In Palawan, taking a trip to the underground river is an incredible experience.
Manila, the bold and brassy capital, has key sights in the historical enclave of Intramuros while the Makati district features vast shopping malls and plush hotels. For a fun way to get around whilst hanging out with the locals, take a ride on a colourful jeepney.
North of Manila discover the world-famous and incredibly picturesque Banaue rice terraces, the mountain region of Baguio for an insight into the diverse indigenous tribes, and at Sagada witness the astonishing hanging coffins.
