Day 1: Fly to Sydney.
Day 2 Sydney: On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day at leisure for you to relax or perhaps begin your sightseeing.
Day 3 Sydney: At leisure to delve into the city. To start, we suggest you head to Darling Harbour for impressive views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge or, perhaps, take the ferry to Manly and see this bustling seaside town. Day 4 Sydney: A full day visiting the Blue Mountains. Take in spectacular views of Megalong Valley before arriving at Echo Point for views across to the Three Sisters. Continue to Warradah Aboriginal Centre before reaching picturesque Leura, where you can lunch at one of the many restaurants (own expense). The next stop is Featherdale Wildlife Park, one of Australia’s largest private collections of Australian native animals and bird life. The return route to Sydney, takes you via Sydney Olympic Park.
Day 5 Sydney: A further full day for you to sightsee and shop as you please. Take a stroll around the Botanic Gardens, or perhaps head to Bondi Beach where you can laze on the sands or even try your hand at surfing.
Day 6 Sydney/Uluru: Morning flight to Uluru (Ayers Rock). This evening you are collected from your hotel and taken to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Enjoy nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine as the sun sinks over the western horizon and the evening sky brings out the many shades of colour for which Uluru is famous.
Day 7 Uluru: Morning at leisure. This afternoon travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) where your driver/guide will explain the geological history of these giant domes and then escort you on a 2-3 hour walk in the valley between the massive red conglomerate rocks. When you reach the Valley of the Winds Lookout, take some time to gaze out over the central valley of Kata Tjuta. Then take in a magnificent outback sunset at Kata Tjuta while you enjoy a complimentary glass of sparkling wine.
Day 8 Uluru/Cairns: At leisure before the flight to Cairns. On arrival transfer to your hotel.
Day 9 Cairns: Embark on a full day tour by wavepiercer catamaran to the Great Barrier Reef. Here, you can swim and snorkel in the clear blue waters whilst viewing the tropical fish and colourful coral or, maybe go on a snorkelling excursion, or try diving (additional expense).
Days 10-12 Cairns: At leisure. This modern, laid back city boasts a swimming lagoon, busy marina, beachfront and alfresco dining, as well as a promenade with coffee shops and restaurants catering to all budgets and tastes. Area highlights include the Atherton Tablelands, Cairns Night Zoo and the Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail. See page 59 for our pre-bookable excursions.
Day 13 Cairns: Transfer to the airport for your onward journey, or why not extend your stay?
Accommodation: Arts Hotel, Sydney; Voyages Lost Camel, Uluru & Cairns Colonial Club, Cairns.
Meals: Room only. Lunch is included on day 9.
