Day 1 Adelaide/Clare Valley: Depart Adelaide travelling north into the charmingly secluded Clare Valley, this is a place to relax, unwind and soak up the good life. Amongst the patchwork of pristine farmland there are over 40 cellar doors to explore and sample along the way (approx 2 hours).
Day 2 Clare Valley: A day at leisure to further explore this stunning wine region that has been producing wine since 1851. Known best for its Rieslings and boutique cellars, the area is also gaining a reputation for its boutique beers and ciders, which can be found at a variety of micro-breweries. Why not hire a bike and pedal along the picturesque ‘Riesling Trail’ which travels past many cellar doors and other visitor attractions making it ideal for a leisurely ride with a distraction or two. Alternatively try your hand at a game of golf at a nearby 18 hole course. However you opt to spend the day you are spoilt for choice when it comes to food. From farmhouse restaurants, to gourmet pub fare and romantic dining locations, there are delectable offerings at almost every turn.
Day 3 Clare Valley/Flinders Ranges: Leaving the Clare Valley drive through the outback to the Flinders Ranges taking in the spectacular views of Wilpena Pound, a majestic natural amphitheatre, and the surrounding ranges. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the national park (approx 4 hours).
Day 4 Flinders Ranges: Day at leisure. Choose from an array of activities offered by the resort to fully see and experience the outback, such as guided walks, 4WD tours of the Flinders Ranges or Wilpena Pound, balloon flights or Station Tours which include the water run and mustering sheep. Alternatively, take a trip to the scenic gorge of Brachina, a refuge for the endangered yellow-footed rock wallaby, as well as birds and other animals. Return via Parachilna and visit the Prairie Hotel, one of Australia’s iconic outback pubs, then on through the historic town of Blinman.
Day 5 Flinders Ranges/Adelaide: After breakfast leave the Flinders Ranges and head south to Port Augusta. Maybe visit the harbour, the School of the Air or the Flying Doctors before continuing on to Adelaide (approx 4½ hours).
Accommodation: 4* Clare Country Club; 3* Rawnsley Park Station.
