Day 1 Hobart: Transfer from Hobart Airport to your hotel before an afternoon tour of Hobart. You'll see Battery Point, Salamanca Place, the Botanic Gardens, Constitution Dock and Mount Nelson for views overlooking Hobart. Tonight, enjoy a welcome reception and dinner.

Day 2 Hobart/Strahan: This morning you'll head west to New Norfolk and magnificent Mt Field National Park for a walk through lush rainforest to the many-tiered cascade of picturesque Russell Falls. Then enjoy the scenic drive to iconic Lake St Clair, the deepest freshwater lake in Australia, and continue through the rainforest to the coastal town of Strahan. Nestled on the shores of massive Macquarie Harbour, Strahan is the gateway to the World Heritage listed Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park.

Day 3 Strahan/Cradle Mountain: A highlight today is your lunch cruise on the Gordon River. You'll be awestruck by the beauty of the dark waters. Stained amber by buttongrass tannins, they reflect the untouched wilderness that surrounds them. Stop at Sarah Island for an insight into a relic of Tasmania's lesser-known convict history. See Hells Gates, the treacherous entrance to the harbour, and Heritage Landing, site of a 2,000 year old Huon Pine. Travel through the old towns of Rosebery and Tullah on your way to your hotel.

Day 4 Cradle Mountain/Smithton: Travel to gorgeous Dove Lake for inspiring views of Cradle Mountain, definitely a scenic highlight! Keep your eyes peeled for Bennetts wallabies, echidnas and pademelons grazing through the alpine heathlands. Then, make your way past Table Cape for spectacular views of Bass Strait, the lighthouse and coastline. Picturesque Stanley is in your sights as you head west and enjoy views of the sheer sided Stanley Bluff known as The Nut, with time to explore. Yourfinal destination is Smithton.

Day 5 Smithton/Launceston: Start with a guided tour of the magnificent Tarkine Wilderness region. One of Australia's largest temperate rainforests, it boasts vast strands of myrtle, leatherwood and pine trees. En route to Launceston you'll visit the Ashgrove Tasmanian Farm to learn all about its dairy production methods and taste some samples.

Day 6 Launceston: Travel through the rolling hills of the Tamar Valley to the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre, which has a long rich gold mining history. Your expert guide will bring to life the mine's extraordinary past and tell you of incredible engineering feats, the town's heritage and dramatic historic events. After taking time to discover Cataract Gorge, the afternoon is at leisure for your own explorations of Launceston.

Day 7 Launceston/Bicheno: After visiting Bridestowe Lavender Estate you'll stop at the Legerwood Carved Memorial Trees, planted in honour of fallen WWI soldiers. Follow the picturesque east coast to Bicheno where this evening you may like to take an optional tour to see Bicheno's wild penguin colony as they emerge from the ocean for the night, or a tour to see the iconic Tasmanian Devils (additional expense).

Day 8 Bicheno/Hobart: Get your camera ready for spectacular Freycinet National Park. A guided walk will unveil astonishing views across brilliant blue water, verdant forest and golden beaches. Later, travel through Swansea and Orford, en route to Hobart.

Day 9 Hobart/Port Arthur/Hobart: Explore the Port Arthur Historic Site, taking a cruise around the Isle of the Dead and a fascinating walk with a local expert through the remains of Port Arthur's infamous convict prison. On the drive back to Hobart, see the amazing natural rock formations of the Tasman Arch, the Devil's Kitchen and the Blowhole. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner at one of Hobart's popular restaurants.
