Day 1 Sydney/Canberra: Morning departure for Canberra via the Southern Highlands. Stop at historic Berrima then visit Gold Creek Station and meet local grazier for a taste of life on the farm and an Aussie BBQ lunch. On arrival in Canberra, the country's capital, enjoy a tour through Parliament House and visit the impressive Australian War Memorial. This evening join your fellow travellers for dinner.
Day 2 Canberra/Beechworth: Drive to the summit of Mt Ainslie for panoramic views of the city and surrounds. Cross the mighty Murray River into Victoria taking the scenic route to historic Beechworth, Victoria's best preserved gold rush town. Get to know Beechworth with a tour and enjoy some free time to explore the antique shops, galleries, museum and historic hotel.
Day 3 Beechworth/Melbourne: Join your host for breakfast before travelling to historic Glenrowan and on through Ned Kelly country to cosmopolitan Melbourne. Gain some interesting insights on a tour of the city, then take some time to explore independently.
Day 4 Melbourne: Today is free to continue your sightseeing independently! Perhaps head to the Eureka Skydeck for fantastic views, explore Queen Victoria Market or discover Melbourne's famous laneways.
Day 5 Melbourne/Warrnambool: Today, embark on one of the world’s premier road trips – the Great Ocean Road! Enjoy spectacular coastal scenery, pausing in the quaint seaside towns of Lorne and Apollo Bay. Just off shore in the Port Campbell National Park, the towering limestone stacks of the Twelve Apostles rise above the wild Southern Ocean. You’ll also see nearby Loch Ard Gorge and visit the impressive London Bridge natural rock formation before arriving in Warrnambool.
Day 6 Warrnambool/Naracoorte: This morning visit the Worn Gundidj Aboriginal Co-operative at Tower Hill State Game Reserve for an insight into Aboriginal culture. Cross the border into South Australia, stopping in Mount Gambier to see the mysterious Blue Lake and then continue to the world-renowned Coonawarra wine region, stopping at a vineyard for a tasting. Before arriving in Naracoorte, you’ll be joined by a local expert for a guided tour through the Alexandra Cave.
Day 7 Naracoorte/Kangaroo Island: Journey to the Fleurieu Peninsula where rolling hills are complemented by rugged clifftops, sandy beaches and the winding Murray River. Visit the charming seaside town of Victor Harbor before a ferry takes you to Kangaroo Island, famous for its unspoiled natural beauty and fine produce. Begin with a visit to South Australia’s only boutique distillery to taste a selection of award-winning Australia gins and delicious liqueurs. Travel on to Kingscote, South Australia’s oldest European settlement.
Day 8 Kangaroo Island: Begin with a visit to the spectacular Remarkable Rocks and Admiral’s Arch in Flinders Chase National Park. Enjoy a delicious lunch at Vivonne Bay before experiencing the only ‘in-flight’ birds of prey display in South Australia. Afterwards join a ranger at Seal Bay Conservation Park for a guided walk among a colony of rare sea lions.
Day 9 Kangaroo Island/Adelaide: Board the ferry back to the mainland and travel to picturesque Adelaide. After a city tour you have a choice of sightseeing experiences: a visit to the Art Gallery, a guided walking tour or alternatively, entry to Adelaide Zoo.
Day 10 Adelaide/Barossa: Discover the rolling Adelaide Hills and the renowned Barossa, stopping first at picturesque Hahndorf, Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement. Wander down its tree-lined streets, explore the quaint shops and taste some of the town’s artisan produce. Continue to the Barossa for lunch before visiting the Jacob’s Creek vineyard for a tasting. Return to Adelaide via a tranquil landscape dotted with stone cottages and olive groves before a farewell dinner.
Day 11 Adelaide: After an indulgent trip, your tour concludes.
