Day 1 Uluru: On arrival at Ayers Rock Airport you will be transferred to the Ayers Rock Resort. This afternoon visit the Uluru–Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, to learn more about the Western Desert region. Then, tour the sacred sites around the base of Uluru to learn about the native flora, fauna and customs of the traditional owners, the Anangu people. Walk to sacred Mutitjulu Waterhole and view Aboriginal rock art while your expert guide explains its stories and significance. In the late afternoon travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area and relax with a glass of sparkling wine as the sun sets over the western horizon, bringing out the myriad shades of colour for which Uluru is renowned. After sunset you have the option to enjoy a barbecue dinner in a peaceful desert setting followed by a tour of the night sky (additional expense).
Day 2 Uluru: Rise early this morning to travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area and witness the first rays of the sun setting the world’s largest monolith aglow. Then travel to Walpa Gorge, where a shady walking trail follows the natural creek bed between two of the tallest of the soaring red rock domes of mystical Kata Tjuta. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Ayers Rock Airport where your tour concludes.
