2 nights side trip tour

Price from: £690pp

Uluru 2 nights

Day 1 Uluru: On arrival at Ayers Rock Airport you will be transferred to the Ayers Rock Resort. This afternoon visit the Uluru–Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, to learn more about the Western Desert region. Then, tour the sacred sites around the base of Uluru to learn about the native flora, fauna and customs of the traditional owners, the Anangu people. Walk to sacred Mutitjulu Waterhole and view Aboriginal rock art while your expert guide explains its stories and significance. In the late afternoon travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area and relax with a glass of sparkling wine as the sun sets over the western horizon, bringing out the myriad shades of colour for which Uluru is renowned. After sunset you have the option to enjoy a barbecue dinner in a peaceful desert setting followed by a tour of the night sky (additional expense).

Day 2 Kata Tjuta: Early departure for the Kata Tjuta dune viewing platform for a light breakfast and warming drink as the dawn creeps across the desert plain and lights up the domes of Kata Tjuta. Continue with your guide to the first lookout, Karu and then if you’re feeling adventurous, take the challenging walk with your guide to the second lookout, Karingana, for spectacular views over the heart of this sacred area. Alternatively, for something more sedate a guided walk through Walpa Gorge follows the path between two of the towering domes. Later, join your fellow travellers for an unforgettable Sounds of Silence dinner. Feast on a gourmet buffet of Australian delicacies accompanied by fine wines, then sit back as a star talker takes you on a tour of the night sky (weather conditions permitting).

Day 3 Uluru: Depart the resort in total darkness for the short drive to Bruce Munro’s renowned Field of Light art installation. Take it all in from a private dune-top as your host offers an insight to this incredible sight and wander through the paths surrounding the 50,000 hand-crafted glass spheres. Your tour concludes with a transfer to Ayers Rock airport.
