Day 1: Fly to Melbourne.

Day 2 Melbourne: On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure for you to relax and settle into your hotel or start discovering the many delights in the city.

Day 3 Melbourne: This morning set off on a guided city sightseeing tour. Hear about Melbourne’s history, famous buildings, sensational shopping, great sporting centres and universities. In the afternoon, an excursion is included to Phillip Island, home to the world-famous Little Penguins. Watch as the comical penguins march up the sand to their nesting places before time to browse through the educational centre and souvenir shops.

Day 4 Melbourne: At leisure. Perhaps splash out in the boutique shops hidden in the city’s laneways, wander through the Birrarung Marr to the National Sports Museum or perhaps take an excursion. See page 84 for our selection of pre-bookable excursions.

Day 5 Melbourne/Alice Springs: Morning flight to Alice Springs. This afternoon is at leisure, so you may like to stroll along Todd Mall, which is lined with art galleries;  hire a bike to explore further afield; or visit the fascinating Alice Springs Telegraph Station to learn how Australia was connected to the rest of the world in the late 19th century.

Day 6 Alice Springs/Uluru (Ayers Rock): On the way to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, visit a camel farm and take an optional camel ride (own expense). This afternoon travel around the base of Uluru then continue to the Kuniya Walk and the Mutitjulu Waterhole to view Aboriginal rock paintings. Later, visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre before travelling to the Uluru sunset viewing area to see the striking colours of Uluru as the sun sets.

Day 7 Uluru: Rise early this morning and travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area to glimpse the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight. Travel to mystical Kata Tjuta and the base of Walpa Gorge to explore. Return to Ayers Rock Resort and this evening enjoy the Sounds of Silence Dinner, then sit back and relax as a Star Talker gives you a tour of the Southern Night skies (conditions permitting).

Day 8 Uluru/Cairns: This morning, transfer to Ayers Rock Airport for your flight to Cairns. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 9 Cairns: Embark on a full day cruise to the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef. Swim and snorkel in the warm, clear blue waters, or perhaps board the semi-submersible viewer for an underwater adventure amid the vibrant coral and marine life.

Day 10 Cairns: At leisure. Stroll along the Esplanade, do some shopping. Alternatively, head to the pretty village of Kuranda and ride the Kuranda Skyrail Rainforest Cableway then return via the Kuranda Scenic Railway down to Cairns (additional expense).

Day 11 Cairns/Sydney: Transfer to Cairns Airport for your flight to Sydney. On arrival you are free to explore.

Day 12 Sydney: This morning join a harbour story cruise which is a wonderfully relaxing way to soak up the views of the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The afternoon is then yours to do as you please. Perhaps take a stroll around Darling Harbour or The Rocks.

Day 13 Sydney: The morning is at leisure to relax, sightsee or shop. This afternoon, join a Bondi Beach and Sydney Sights tour during which you’ll travel through the historic Rocks area and take in views of the Opera House, Hyde Park and Parliament House. You’ll also visit The Gap and enjoy stunning views, plus stop at the world-famous Bondi Beach for spectacular scenery.

Day 14 Sydney: After a morning at leisure, transfer to the airport for your onward journey. Or, you may wish to extend your holiday?
