Day 1 Napier: Arrive Napier and collect your hire car. Take the chance to explore this attractive city with its comprehensive collection of inner-city art deco buildings.
Day 2 Napier: Drive to Hastings and sample some of Hawkes Bay's award-wining red wines. Alternatively, go round the coast to Cape Kidnappers.
Day 3 Napier/Martinborough: Follow the trail this morning heading south to Martinborough, stopping en route to visit Tui Brewery or the Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre (approx 4 hours).
Day 4 Martinborough: At leisure to savour the local vineyards and their offerings all easily reached on foot! If you prefer you can travel by bicycle, London taxi or a horse and carriage. Alternatively visit Greytown, a Victorian country village with cafés and boutique shops.
Day 5 Martinborough/Wellington: Travel south to Wellington. During the afternoon venture to Zealandia, the Karori Sanctuary, an urban nature reserve just 10 minutes from central Wellington, offering a range of tours and opportunities to get up close and personal with native New Zealand wildlife (approx 1 hour).
Day 6 Wellington/Blenheim: Cruise the Cook Strait from Wellington to Picton then continue to Blenheim. On arrival you can arrange a wine tasting (approx 3 hours by ferry and 30 mins drive).
Day 7 Blenheim: Return your hire car this morning. Alternatively why not extend your stay and visit the Marlborough Sounds or Christchurch.
