Day 1 Auckland: On arrival in Auckland you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 Auckland: Your selection of activities today include a cruise on Waitemata Harbour; a Waiheke Island wine tour; the fascinating marine life at Kelly Tarlton's Sea Life Aquarium; or set off into the Waiakere Rainforest.
Day 3 Auckland/Bay of Islands: Cross Auckland's busy Harbour Bridge and travel along the Hibiscus Coast. Stop at Makakahe's Kauri Museum for an insightinto the rich pioneering history of the Northland region. Continue to the stunning Bay of Islands and visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the Maori Meeting House and War Canoe.
Day 4 Bay of Islands: Choose from a range of activities. Perhaps take a tour to Cape Reinga; experience life on the high seas; embark on a dolphin watching adventure; or take a mini tour of Russell.
Day 5 Bay of Islands/Auckland: Explore the Bay of Islands on a dolphin watching cruise to Cape Brett and the Hole in the Rock. Meander through the inner islands, admiring the sandy beaches and keeping watch for dolphins, then relax in a secluded bay. Return to Auckland.
Day 6 Auckland/Rotorua: Travel to Waitomo for a guided tour of the famous Glowworm Caves. Continue to Rotorua and this evening, immerse yourself in Maori culture with a traditional Hangi Feast.
Day 7 Rotorua: Today you have a choice of activities. Perhaps enjoy a sheep show at the Agrodome followed by a kiwi encounter at Rainbow Springs Nature Park and visit the Te Puia Thermal Reserve; experience Middle-earth on a Hobbiton Movie Set tour; visit Wai-O-Tapu; or embark on a relaxing Redwood Treewalk with a Maori guide.
Day 8 Rotorua/Wellington: Follow the Thermal Explorer Highway to the heart of North Island. View the Wairakei Steam Valley, then visit Huka Falls and Lake Taupo before travelling across the plateau of Tongariro National Park to Wellington.
Day 9 Wellington: Today's city sightseeing tour includes the national museum – Te Papa Tongarewa. The rest of the day is at leisure to further explore.
Day 10 Wellington/Christchurch: Cruise across Cook Strait to Picton on the Interislander ferry. Rejoin your coach and travel to Kaikoura and onwards to Christchurch.
Day 11 Christchurch/Franz Josef: Board the TranzAlpine train for a great rail adventure. Disembark at Arthur's Pass and drive to Hokitika to see pounamu (jade) carved into jewellery. Continue to Franz Josef where you will take in the dramatic surrounds of Franz Josef Glacier.
Day 12 Franz Josef/Queenstown: Enjoy truly breathtaking scenery as you travel to Queenstown. Tonight choose from four tempting dining experiences including a scenic gondola ride to the Skyline Restaurant.
Day 13 Queenstown: Today's sightseeing options include a Safari of the Scenes Tour with film locations from The Lord of the Rings trilogy; thrill seekers may enjoy an exhilarating jet boat ride, a Skippers Canyon adventure or Dart River safari. Or, tour the country's premier wine region; a bike ride along Lake Wakatipu or a lake cruise.
Day 14 Queenstown/Te Anau: Embark on one of the most scenic drives today as you journey along the Milford Road. Wind down the Eglinton and Hollyford valleys, then drive through the Homer Tunnel to be met by the sight of Mitre Peak. Continue to Milford Sound for a cruise of this pristine fiord and then drive to the lakeside settlement of Te Anau.
Day 15 Te Anau/Dunedin: Drive through Southland countryside to Dunedin. This afternoon, sightseeing options include a visit to Olveston House; a ride on the Taieri Gorge Railway; a tour of Speight's Brewery; or visit an albatross colony in the Otago Peninsula.
Day 16 Dunedin/Mt Cook: Head north and stop to view the large spherical Moeraki Boulders on Koekohe Beach then continue to World Heritage listed Mt Cook National Park. Afternoon activities include a visit to the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre; or, during the summer months, board a MAC boat for a close up view of icebergs on the Tasman Glacier Terminal Lake.
Day 17 Mt Cook/Christchurch: Travel to picturesque Lake Tekapo and visit the tiny Church of the Good Shepherd. Later, travel along Burkes Pass to Christchurch.
Day 18 Christchurch: Your tour ends with an airport transfer.
