Riviera Maya Holidays

Just south of Cancun extending along the Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula is the beautiful Riviera Maya, which is perfect if you're looking to escape the crowds. Here you'll find world-class restaurants, nightlife, amazing watersports, exclusive spas, fantastic shopping and some fabulous golf courses.

Riviera Maya extends 24 miles from Punta Brava, south of Puerto Morelos to the fishing village of Punta Allen. Home to stunningly beautiful beaches of fine white sand and turquoise waters, Riviera Maya is also renowned for the many natural attractions in the area, including the rich, colourful coral reefs which are a haven for snorkellers and scuba divers alike. You'll also find amazing cenotes (natural sinkholes) and subterranean rivers found nowhere else in the world.

Beaches and cenotes aren't the only natural attractions, as there's plenty of wildlife, jungle and underwater caves, which are showcased in the area's huge eco parks. These include Xcaret, Xel-Ha and Xplor with each one offering something different, from aquariums and swimming with dolphins or stingrays to river rafting, zip lines and underground river swimming. Also not to be missed is Biosphere Sian Ka'an, one of Mexico's largest protected areas with 1.6 million acres of intricately linked marine, coastal and terrestrial eco systems. There are tours for bird watching, fishing, hiking, snorkeling or floating on mangrove-surrounded rivers.

For those in need of some pampering Riviera Maya has some of the best spas in the country, which offer a unique combination of wellness and Mayan traditions. Should you wish to further immerse yourself in mystical Mayan culture, take a trip to nearby ruins. Options include Tulum, which has 60 impressive structures dating back to the 12th century; Coba, much of which is still shrouded by thick jungle and, of course, the world-renowned Chichen Itza.
