Day 1: Fly to Dubai.
Day 2 Dubai: On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. From jaw-dropping skyscrapers to aromatic authentic souks, prepare to be dazzled by Dubai.
Day 3 Dubai: At leisure to explore. Perhaps book a ticket for the Hop-on-Hop-off tour (see page 230), for a flexible way to discover Dubai.
Day 4 Dubai/Cruise: At leisure before you are transferred to the port to board Jewel of the Seas.
Day 5 Dubai: The ship remains in Dubai, so step ashore once more to continue your explorations. Perhaps enjoy an Arabian adventure in the nearby desert, go off-piste in the huge indoor ski park or lounge on Dubai’s sun-kissed beaches.
Day 6 Abu Dhabi: Like Dubai, the UAE capital is also home to futuristic skyscrapers which tower over mosques, museums and bazaars. Options here include a stroll along the Corniche, a visit to a falcon hospital, the thrills and spills of Ferrari World, or visit the spectacular Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
Day 7 Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi: One of the 200 low-lying islands that grace Abu Dhabi’s extensive coastline, this serene and unspoilt idyll was established as a wildlife sanctuary by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Come face to face with cheetahs, giraffes, ostriches and oryx, snorkel in the shimmering blue waters, kayak in the mangroves or mountain bike in the wadis for an away-from-it-all adventure.
Day 8 At sea: Along with plenty of ways to relax there’s also a host of activities to keep boredom at bay. So, whether you stay cool in the pool, play a round of mini golf, scale the rock wall, laze in the adult-only solarium or indulge with pampering spa treatments, you really are spoilt for choice with a day at sea.
Day 9 Muscat, Oman: Admire the intricate opulence of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque or the stunning new Royal Opera House. Gain an understanding of oil in the Middle East at Muscat’s Oman Oil and Gas Exhibition Centre or be tempted by the exotic fragrances at the Amouage perfume factory. Explore the Muttrah Souq, one of the oldest marketplaces in Muscat, or the Muttrah Corniche, a lovely waterfront promenade with mosques, street art and lovely views.
Day 10 Dubai: The ship returns to Dubai, where you have further time to explore. Why not head to the soaring Burj Khalifa and soak up the far-reaching views. Pop into the Dubai Mall should you feel the need to shop or perhaps visit Wild Wadi Waterpark.
Day 11 Dubai: Disembark and transfer to the airport for your onward journey. Alternatively, why not extend your stay in Dubai or the Far East?
