Day 1 Fly to Denver: On arrival make your own way to your hotel.

Day 2 Denver: Urban sophistication meets outdoor adventure in the Mile High City, where 300 days of sunshine, a thriving cultural scene, diverse neighbourhoods and natural beauty combine. Perhaps explore Larimer Square where Victorian buildings house speciality boutiques and unique chef-driven restaurants or, head to Lower Downtown Historic District where turn-of-the-century warehouses are home to 90 brewpubs, sports bars, restaurants and rooftop cafes.

Day 3 Denver/Glenwood Springs: Early this morning make your way to the station where you’ll board the Rocky Mountaineer train. Take your seat and start your journey alongside the Colorado River through a series of canyons and rugged landscapes. As you enjoy breakfast take in the scenic views of the Gross Reservoir dam. The route slowly gains elevation before reaching the Continental Divide where you’ll pass through the historic Moffat Tunnel. You’ll then feast on a regionally inspired lunch as you travel along the Colorado River through a series of captivating canyons, including Byers Canyon and Gore Canyon. Disembark in Glenwood Springs for an overnight hotel stay and evening at leisure in this true Wild West town.

Day 4  Glenwood Springs/Moab: Reboard the train for another day of incredible scenery. Enjoy breakfast as the train passes by Parachute Creek and Mount Logan towards De Beque Canyon, a 15 mile long narrow canyon. Continue west, looking out for Mount Garfield which is the highest point of the Book Cliffs. As you follow the Colorado River you can admire the stunning red sandstone cliffs of the 25 mile long Ruby Canyon and then, as the train reaches Moab, you’re greeted by the brilliant sandstone mountains the region is so famous for. Depart the train and transfer by coach to your hotel.

Day 5  Moab: The town of Moab is surrounded by scenic rivers, forests, a state park and not forgetting, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks with some of the most stunning red rock landscapes on earth. Also enjoy Moab’s small town hospitality, its great collection of restaurants, microbreweries, shops and galleries.

Day 6  Moab/Bryce Canyon National Park: Collect your hire car and head west into Utah for Bryce Canyon National Park (253 miles).

Day 7  Bryce Canyon National Park: Home to some of the most beautiful terrain on the globe, the series of large natural amphitheatres with thousands of multi-coloured rock pinnacles called “hoodoos” will leave you in awe. These formations shine brilliantly under sunny skies, but glow most exquisitely under the soft light of the rising or setting sun. You can drive through the 20 mile long park, stopping to take in the scenic viewpoints or, perhaps opt to follow one of the many hiking trails

Day 8  Bryce Canyon/Zion National Park: Continue your journey by road today towards Zion national Park (77 miles).

Day 9  Zion National Park: Rugged and spectacularly beautiful, the thousand-foot deep red rock canyon of Zion nestles in dramatic surroundings. By far the best way to explore is on foot, so perhaps follow one of the many trails, such as the Emerald Pools Trail, the Canyon Overlook Trail or the Riverside Walk/Gateway to the Narrows which takes you to the stunning mouth of Zion’s iconic slot canyon.

Day 10  Zion National Park/Las Vegas: Bid farewell to the glorious natural splendours and drive to the amazing city of Las Vegas, for a totally different kind of spectacular. Drop off your car on arrival and make your way to your hotel (161 miles).

Days 11-12  Las Vegas: With its five star resorts, world-class restaurants, stellar shopping, unrivalled entertainment, 24/7 pulse, this is a one-of-a-kind city with no shortage of things to see and do. Be sure to saunter along the Strip which is bigger and brighter than you can imagine, perhaps take in a show, try your luck in a casino or head to Downtown Las Vegas and the Fremont Street Experience, the original heart of Vegas.

Day 13  Las Vegas: All too soon it’s time to travel to the airport for your onward journey.
