Day 1: Fly to Nashville. On arrival make your way to your hotel.
Days 2-3 Nashville: Two full days to explore. While most famous for country music, Nashville also rings out to the sounds of rock, bluegrass, jazz, hip-hop, folk and classical. With more than 150 live music venues, you’re sure to find a sound to suit you! Top attractions include the Country Music Hall of Fame, RCA Studio B, the Grand Ole Opry and numerous antebellum mansions.
Day 4 Nashville/Huntsville: Collect your hire car and head south towards Huntsville, Alabama. The city’s most notable attraction is the US Space and Rocket Centre, which celebrates the history and the future of NASA. Alternatively, stop and smell the roses, at the Huntsville Botanical Garden (115 miles).
Day 5 Huntsville/Montgomery: Drive onwards to Montgomery, the birthplace of both the Civil War and the Civil Rights movement. The Rosa Parks Museum gives a fascinating insight to events that changed a nation and is well worth a visit (190 miles).
Day 6 Montgomery/New Orleans: Head further south today and perhaps break your journey in Mobile, a beautiful city and original French settlement for more than 300 years. Continue to New Orleans (311 miles).
Days 7-8 New Orleans: Two days to explore as you choose. Allow ample time to wander the French Quarter to soak up the sights and sounds, see bustling Jackson Square, perhaps take a ride on a streetcar or book a trip on a paddlesteamer along the Mississippi.
Day 9 New Orleans/Vacherie: Stroll the shops before you hit the road once more for the short drive to Vacherie. It is here where you’ll find that most of iconic of all American plantation houses, Oak Alley, with its majestic stand of 300-year-old oaks and grand antebellum Greek revival home (53 miles).
Day 10 Vacherie/Lafayette: Drive onwards to Lafayette, the heart of Louisiana’s Cajun and Creole Country. Whatever your passion, be it music, cuisine, festivals, history, culture, the arts or shopping, you’ll find it here in Lafayette (104 miles).
Day 11 Lafayette/Natchez: Set your SatNav for Natchez, a small Mississippi River town, which is filled with meticulously kept antebellum homes and churches, beautiful parks, historic walking trails and a vibrant nightlife
Day 12 Natchez/Vicksburg: Another short drive today brings you to Vicksburg, Mississippi, a city that wears its rich history on its sleeve. Here you can visit the site of the defining battle of the American Civil War, explore museums or leave history to one side and simply stroll the brick-paved streets of downtown, stopping to browse art galleries and boutiques (72 miles).
Day 13 Vicksburg/Memphis: Head north and follow the I-55 towards Memphis (251 miles).
Day 14 Memphis: Home of the Blues and birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll, there’s pure magic in the mix in Memphis, with world-famous music, attractions, back-alley barbecue joints and the neon nightlife of Beale Street. Numerous museums give an insight to some of America’s musical giants and let’s not forget the most famous address in the city, Graceland, Elvis’ beloved mansion (136 miles).
Day 15 Memphis/Nashville: Your tour concludes as you return your car at Nashville airport for your onward journey (212 miles).
