Day 1: Fly to Houston. On arrival collect your car and make your way to your hotel.
Day 2 Houston: America’s fourth largest city brims with world-class dining, arts, shopping and nightlife. Explore the historic Heights, stroll the Museum District or head to fascinating Space Centre Houston (home to NASA’s Mission Control).
Day 3 Houston/Galveston: Perhaps shop at the Galleria Mall before you set off for Galveston, a thin strip of an island in the Gulf of Mexico. Here, you’ll find lots of outdoor adventure activities including kayaking, deep-sea fishing, golfing and more (53 miles).
Day 4 Galveston: Take a stroll down the historic Strand district for shopping, antique stores, art galleries, fabulous entertainment and one of the USA’s largest and best- preserved concentrations of Victorian architecture. Perhaps just opt to relax on the 32 miles of beach within easy reach of the city, or visit The Grand 1894 Opera House, which presents a year round schedule of performances featuring stars of stage and screen.
Day 5 Galveston/San Antonio: Before you head west towards San Antonio why not share the adventure of the high seas with a visit to the Texas Seaport Museum, home of the celebrated 1877 tall ship Elissa (247 miles).
Day 6 San Antonio: Delve into the history and culture of this captivating city at the Alamo, see San Fernando Cathedral or head to the Tower of the Americas. Other popular attractions include the San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld. In the evening enjoy fantastic Tex-Mex cuisine and the nightlife along the magnificent River Walk.
Day 7 San Antonio/Austin: Explore the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park or admire the collections at the San Antonio Museum of Art. Alternatively, visit the spectacular Natural Bridge Caverns, the largest commercial caves in Texas boasting more than 10,000 different stalactitic formations. Continue your journey with a short drive to Austin (80 miles).
Day 8 Austin: Along with more than 250 live music venues and a vibrant arts scene, Austin is home to a ballet, world-class museums, great shopping and beautiful outdoor spaces. Spend the morning paddling on Lady Bird Lake then stroll around the celebrated history museum; see the impressive State Capitol along with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum. Make time to also explore Austin’s diverse entertainment districts, from Downtown to Sixth Street and Red River, where you’ll find a fabulous selection of trendy shops, restaurants and of course, live music venues.
Day 9 Austin/Wildcatter Ranch: Leave behind the big city and plot your course for the North Texas Hill Country, for a stay on a ranch (228 miles).
Day 10 Wildcatter Ranch: Reconnect with nature and enjoy some fabulous outdoor activities, including a group trail ride, guided hikes, clay pigeon shooting and archery. There’s also an infinity edge pool overlooking the Brazos River where you can unwind.
Day 11 Wildcatter Ranch/Dallas: Bid farewell to the ranch and drive to Dallas (116 miles).
Day 12 Dallas: Take advantage of free transportation options throughout the city as you discover Dallas’ great shopping, sports, museums and nightlife. There’s the M-Line Trolly in Downtown or the D-Link DART free shuttle. Alternatively, head to neighbouring Fort Worth where you can stroll the historic stockyards and watch a live rodeo (Friday and Saturday only).
