Day 1: Fly to Seattle. On arrival make your own way to your hotel.

Day 2 Seattle: This dynamic city is surrounded by unmatched natural beauty and you have the day to explore as you choose. Be sure to include a visit to the Space Needle and Pike Place Market, learn all about the region’s deep aviation roots at the Museum of Flight or perhaps take a cruise across Puget Sound.

Day 3 Seattle/Winthrop: Collect your hire car and begin your road trip of the Pacific Northwest. Today’s route along the Cascade Loop is known for its stunning scenery and charming towns, so you’ll find no end of stopping points to break the journey (241 miles).

Day 4 Winthrop: At leisure to get to know this tiny old western town with its antique boardwalks, great boutiques, fabulous restaurants and having both North Cascades National Park and Okanagan National Forest as the backyard, there’s just about every outdoor recreational pursuit you could ask for.

Day 5 Winthrop/Spokane: Back behind the wheel today as you head east to bustling Spokane, the second largest city in Washington state  (185 miles).

Day 6 Spokane: There’s perhaps nowhere better to start your sightseeing than the 100-acre Riverfront Park, where the Spokane River creates the largest urban waterfall in the USA. You can also immerse yourself in the mountains at Mt Spokane State Park, and as there’s no shortage of lakes and rivers, you’ll find on-the-water adventures aplenty. There’s also art and culture to dive into at a variety of museums and theatres, plus an abundance of nightlife to keep you entertained.

Day 7 Spokane/Walla Walla: Bear south today as you travel to Walla Walla, which lies in Washington’s Wine Country region, which offers a stunning natural setting for sipping award-winning wines straight from the source (153 miles).

Day 8 Walla Walla: Wine, culture and the beauty of the outdoors all merge to great effect in this small town packed with big surprises. Around every corner it seems there’s a perfect restaurant, an ideal tasting room, while around every bend is an iconic view or epic adventure. Aside from wine, discover the Whitman College Outdoor Sculpture Walk or take the opportunity to play a round of golf amidst some of the most extraordinary scenery.

Day 9 Walla Walla/Portland: Travel west today and cross the border into Oregon as you head for Portland. Perhaps break your journey with a stop at Hood River, known for its wineries and breweries as well as great hiking routes (243 miles).

Day 10 Portland: This fabulous city is alive with cultural happenings, musical entertainment and many other fun things to do. Green spaces are also impressive, including Washington Park and the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Portland is also known for the vibrancy and uniqueness of its many neighbourhoods, each with a distinct sense of place, so be sure to delve into a few during your stay.

Day 11 Portland/Olympic National Park: Your final destination is Olympic National Park, which encompasses nearly a million acres and protects a vast wilderness whilst showcasing several distinctly different ecosystems including glacier-capped mountains, old-growth temperate rainforests and over 70 miles of coastline (211 miles).

Day 12 Olympic National Park: It’s all about the great outdoors so choose whether you want to follow one of the many trails within the park, hire a kayak or go in search of wildlife.

Day 13 Olympic National Park/Seattle: Return your car at the airport and your tour concludes.
