For a small island, Jersey has a complete alphabet of outdoor activities that runs from archery and abseiling to zip lining and zorbing. Whether you’re looking for an invigorating adventure or the perfect family experience, there’s always plenty of things to suit every explorer.
Take to the water: If you’re a seaside adventurer, the ocean awaits! Brave the waves in one of Jersey’s famous surf spots, swim and splash in the sea or enjoy some of the great watersports on offer. Perhaps try your hand at windsurfing, explore hidden coves by kayak, bodyboard or surf the waves, learn to sail or enrol in a diving course. During the summer months, head to St Brelade’s Bay where Absolute Adventures have a kiosk on the beach and offer a whole host of water activities.
Seafaris Island Tours: Jersey Seafaris operate a variety of tours by RIB boat, including to the Ecrehous, a small group of islands and rocks just six miles from Jersey. On a typical trip you’ll cruise around the reef spotting birdlife, seals and, if you are lucky, dolphins.
Walking: Island’s by their very nature are a walker’s delight and Jersey is no exception. With rugged cliffs, rolling hills, hidden coves and stunning views, it’s easy to explore on foot and explore at your own pace. For some guidance, there are a variety of self-guided walks available and some amazing guided tours, including Jersey Heritage’s Ice Age Walking Tour or Jersey Walk Adventure’s Rockpool Ramble.
Cycling: Blazing a trail around the island is a pure joy for riders of all levels. We can help with pre-booking cycle hire for you, or you can arrange yourself locally through numerous outlets. There’s a superb signposted cycle network and a downloadable cycle network guide, as well as some fascinating guided cycle tours too.
Geotourist trails & War tours: The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by German forces in WW2. Download the Geotourist app to follow the Occupation Trails by bike or on foot, to explore how the Occupation has left an extraordinary legacy in Jersey. Alternatively, why not join Jersey War Tours for a bunker tour and the chance to visit sites not open to the public, it’s sure to be an unforgettable experience.
Golf: Coast to coast, Jersey is a golfer’s paradise, with a choice of three 18-hole courses: La Moye Golf Club in the south west; the legendary Royal Jersey Golf Club in Grouville or Les Mielles Golf & Country Club in the heart of Jersey’s wild west. In addition, there are 9-hole courses at either the charming St Clement’s Golf & Sports Centre or Les Ormes Golf Club & Holiday Village. If you’re keen play, we can pre-book tee times for you at Les Mielles. For younger family members, head to St Ouen’s Bay for a round of Jersey-themed crazy golf.
