The diversity of food and drink on offer in Shetland and Orkney is remarkable. Famed local produce includes fish and shellfish, lamb and beef, along with dairy products. The islands are also home to some excellent distilleries and breweries too. There’s no shortage of places to try out some of the local dishes and brews, see below for a selection of our favourite eateries across Shetland and Orkney:-
The Dowry, Lerwick, Shetland: Highly regarded for its quality local produce, including traditional seafood, as well as delicious artisan coffee, beers and spirits.
Fjara Café Bar, Lerwick, Shetland: Offering morning coffees, lunch time snacks along with cocktails, burgers and more by evening. Thanks to a fabulous location on a small peninsula, there are also amazing views to enjoy and often wildlife to spot too.

Skerries Bistro, South Ronaldsay, Orkney: Along with impressive sea views from every table, the bistro offers an impressive fresh seafood menu and much more, all locally and sustainably sourced.
Helgi’s, Kirkwall, Orkney: This small cosy pub dishes up good pub food of the home cooking variety, trying where possible to use local produce. There’s also a great selection of local ales as well as Scottish whisky.
