Day 1 Delhi: Board the opulent Maharajas’ Express in the afternoon. Enjoy a traditional welcome aboard and after settling in to your elegant carriage dinner is served and the train later departs.

Day 2 Agra: An early start today to visit the mesmerising Taj Mahal as the sun rises, a sight which is sure to live long in the memory. Enjoy a champagne breakfast then time to relax before lunch on the train. This afternoon visit the imposing 16th century Agra Fort, one of the finest Mughal forts in India. It contains a maze of buildings – palaces, public and private halls, pavilions and gardens. Optional experiences also available this afternoon include an excursion to the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri; a shopping tour or a spa treatment at a five star hotel.

Day 3 Ranthambore/Jaipur: Arrive Sawai Madhopur early this morning, gateway to India’s revered Ranthambore National Park. Embark on an exciting game drive in the hope of seeing the elusive Bengal tiger. Enjoy lunch back on board as the train proceeds to Jaipur. Visit the dramatic Amber Fort and tour the royal apartments and this evening an opportunity to interact with elephants.

Day 4 Delhi: Arrive Delhi and disembark after breakfast.

What you need to know

The Maharajas’ Express features two bars and two fine dining restaurants, the Mayur Mahal and Rang Mahal, where you are treated to a range of Indian and international cuisine. The train features four categories of cabins/suites, each offering lavish interiors and providing an extremely comfortable experience. Facilities include a television, DVD, safe, hairdryer and en suite bathroom with shower. Each car of the train is attended by personal valets.
