Bird Island

Just 30 minutes by air from Mahe, Bird Island is not only one of the world's top eco-holiday destinations, but as its name suggests, it is also a haven for many migratory birds along with other wildlife, including Esmeralda the oldest land tortoise in the world! Bird Island Lodge has just 24 simple, but very comfortable, bungalows which nestle among coconut palms and lead to the beautiful beach and turquoise waters. Activities include snorkelling, fishing diving, kayaking and boat trips while the bar lounge is the place to enjoy afternoon tea or a pre-dinner cocktail before a tasty Creole meal at the restaurant. Bird Island is an ideal choice for nature lovers seeking to enjoy a slow pace of life in simply idyllic surroundings.
