Day 1 Auckland: On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Exciting sightseeing options include a cruise on Waitemata Harbour; a Waiheke Island wine tour; the fascinating marine life at Kelly Tarlton's Sea Life Aquarium; Auckland Museum; a Wilderness Adventure; or the harbourside suburb of Devonport.

Day 2 Auckland/Bay of Islands: Cross Auckland's busy Harbour Bridge this morning and travel along the Hibiscus Coast. Stop at Matakohe's Kauri Museum for an insight into the rich pioneering history of the Northland region. Continue to the stunning Bay of Islands and visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the Maori Meeting House and War Canoe.

Day 3 Bay of Islands: Today's choice of activities include Cape Reinga, New Zealand's northernmost point; life aboard a tall ship; a dolphin watching adventure; a mini tour of Russell; or an enriching tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.

 Day 4 Bay of Islands/Auckland: Explore the spectacular Bay of Islands on a dolphin watching cruise to Cape Brett and the famous Hole in the Rock. Meander through the inner islands, admiring the picturesque sandy beaches and rocky outcrops, then relax in a secluded bay. Return to Auckland.

Day 5 Auckland/Rotorua: Travel to Waitomo for a guided tour of the famous glow worm caves where thousands of tiny luminescent creatures radiate an eerie glow. Continue to Rotorua and this evening, immerse yourself in Maori culture with a traditional Hangi Feast.

Day 6 Rotorua: Today you have a choice of sightseeing options. Perhaps discover the icons of Rotorua at the Agrodome Farm Show; make your way to Rainbow Springs Nature Park and visit the Te Puia Thermal Reserve; experience Middle-earth on a Hobbiton Movie Set tour; enjoy an eco-thermal tour; or explore the Rotorua Museum.

Day 7 Rotorua/Wellington: Follow the Thermal Explorer Highway to the heart of North Island this morning. View the Wairakei Steam Valley, then visit Huka Falls and Lake Taupo before travelling across the vast volcanic plateau of World Heritage listed Tongariro National Park to Wellington.

Day 8 Wellington: Today's city sightseeing tour includes the national museum – Te Papa Tongarewa. Afterwards, ride the iconic cable car for a fresh perspective of this coastal city.

Day 9 Wellington/Christchurch: Cruise across Cook Strait to Picton on the Interislander ferry. Rejoin your coach and travel to Kaikoura and onwards to Christchurch.

Day 10 Christchurch/Franz Josef: Board the TranzAlpine train for one of the world's greatest rail adventures through the Canterbury Plains and across the magnificent Southern Alps. Disembark at Arthur's Pass and travel by coach to Hokitika to see pounamu (jade) skilfully carved into jewellery. Continue west to Franz Josef where the dramatic terrain and icy surrounds include Franz Josef Glacier, one of three glaciers in the world that descends into temperate rainforest.

Day 11 Franz Josef/Queenstown: Enjoy truly breathtaking scenery along the Haast River before reaching Queenstown. Tonight choose from four tempting dining experiences including a scenic gondola ride to the Skyline Restaurant.

Day 12 Queenstown: Today's sightseeing options include a Safari of the Scenes Tour with film locations from The Lord of the Rings trilogy; thrill seekers may enjoy an exhilarating jet boat ride, a Skippers Canyon adventure or Dart River safari. Or, tour the country's premier wine region; a 4WD tour of Mt Nicholas; a lakeshore forest and bird walk.

Day 13 Queenstown/Te Anau: Embark on one of the most scenic drives today as you journey along the Milford Road. Wind down the Eglinton and Hollyford valleys, then drive through the Homer Tunnel to be met by the sight of Mitre Peak. Continue to Milford Sound for a cruise of this pristine fiord and then drive to the lakeside settlement of Te Anau.

Day 14 Te Anau/Dunedin: Journey through the rolling Southland countryside to Dunedin. This afternoon, your sightseeing options include a tour of Larnach Castle; a visit to Olveston House; a journey on the Taieri Gorge Railway; a tour of Speight's Brewery; visit an albatross colony; see penguins or take an off-road tour of the Otago Peninsula.

Day 15 Dunedin/Mt Cook: Journey north and stop to view the large spherical Moeraki Boulders on Koekohe Beach. Continue to World Heritage listed Mt Cook National Park where you have a choice of activities. Perhaps visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre; or, during the summer months, board a MAC boat and get up close to icebergs on the Tasman Glacier Terminal Lake.

Day 16 Mt Cook/Christchurch: Travel to picturesque Lake Tekapo and visit the tiny Church of Good Shepherd. Later, travel through delightful scenery along Burkes Pass to Christchurch.

Day 17 Christchurch: After breakfast transfer to the airport where your tour concludes.
