2 nts Vancouver, 1 nt Kamloops, 2 nts Jasper, 2 nights Lake Louise, 3 nts Banff
This eye-catching itinerary definitely delivers as far as seeing the best of the Rockies is concerned, with glorious scenery at almost every turn.
Vancouver is your starting point and it’s a true gem of a city. Set between the mountains and sea, where the Seawall skirts beaches and towering trees, then continues past gleaming skyscrapers and hip neighbourhoods that surround the downtown core. Sights to tick off your list include lush Stanley Park, the old-town district of Gastown, historic Chinatown, thriving Granville Island and Commercial Drive for the city’s best shopping.
Drive on to Kamloops, a city of contrasts that nestles at the confluence of two mighty rivers in the heart of the Thompson Valley. It’s a place to head out on a wine-tasting tour, tee off at a picturesque golf course, or simply step out and revel in the mountains, vast valleys and sparkling lakes on the doorstep.
UNESCO listed Jasper National Park is also not short on sights, scenery and adventure with shimmering glaciers, crystalline lakes, thundering waterfalls, deep canyons and evergreen forest all watched over by towering peaks.
Next up is magical Lake Louise, a stunning showstopper whose beauty will stop you in your tracks as you stand and gaze at its emerald-green water, soaring mountain backdrop and glistening glacier. Paddle across the lake or explore the surrounding trails on foot, either way Lake Louise is simply picture-perfect whatever the time of year you visit.
The charming town Banff then beckons, which has boutiques to browse, art galleries and museums, as well as tempting bars and restaurants. Of course, you must also travel out to Banff National Park, to get your final fix of mesmerising vistas. Here, the mountainous terrain is packed with spectacularly scenic valleys, peaks, glaciers, forests, meadows and rivers not to mention amazing wildlife.
With memories to last a lifetime, return to Calgary for your flight back to the UK.
