DAY 1 - Fly to Kuala Lumpur
DAY 2 - Kuala Lumpur
On arrival, transfer to your hotel.
DAY 3 - Kuala Lumpur/Cameron Highlands
Depart KL this morning and travel by road to the Cameron Highlands, a former weekend retreat during the British colonial rule. Enroute, stop at the famous Batu Caves, enjoy lunch at Tapah and also see the Lata Iskandar Waterfall. On arrival this afternoon visit the tea plantation and vegetable markets before an evening visit to the township of Tanah Rata (approx 3 hours drive).
DAY 4 - Cameron Highlands/Pangkor Island
This morning visit an Aboriginal settlement before stopping at the Sam Poh Tong Cave temple in Gunung Rapat. Enjoy time to explore the temple and admire the various statues of Buddha which are set among the natural stalactites and stalagmites. After lunch, continue to Pangkor’s jetty to transfer by ferry and onwards by road to your hotel (approx 4½ hours drive).
DAY 5 - Pangkor Island
A full day to rest and relax.
DAY 6 - Pangkor/Penang
At leisure before the ferry back to the mainland and continuing by road to Penang. En route stop at the attractive royal town of Kuala Kangsar for the chance to visit the Ubudiah Mosque and the Iskandariah Palace (royal palace). Arrive Penang late afternoon and this evening visit a traditional Nyonya restaurant where you’ll get to try a variety of dishes (approx 3 hours drive).
DAY 7 - Penang
A day to explore the delights of George Town. This morning, wander through Little India, admire the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, and experience the hustle and bustle of the Spice Market. After lunch at a traditional banana leaf restaurant explore George Town’s inner enclave beginning with the Kuan Yin Temple. Continue on to the Kapitan Kling Mosque, Cannon Square and Sun Yat Sen Museum. As day slips into night board a trishaw and sit back whilst taking in the sights, smells and sounds of old George Town before ending the night at an outdoor hawker stand, eating as the locals do.
DAY 8 - Penang/Kota Bahru
Depart this morning for a scenic drive to Kota Bahru. The road cuts through mountain ranges and has breathtaking views of tropical rainforest, rubber and oil palm plantations plus a vast lake. There are photo stops along the way and lunch is at a local restaurant. Arrive Kota Bahru in the afternoon (approx 5½ hours drive).
DAY 9 - Kota Bahru/Kuala Terengganu
Begin with a visit to the Central Market for a stroll amidst the bustle and colourful stalls. Afterwards, continue along the coastal roads towards Kuala Terengganu, stopping enroute to visit Pulau Rusa, a local fishing village. Travel onwards through Chinatown and view the Maziah Palace and State Mosque (approx 3 hours drive).
DAY 10 - Kuala Terengganu/Kuantan
During today’s journey you’ll visit fishing villages, brassware and weaving cottage industries, and the Turtle Museum. On arrival in Kuantan the rest of the day is at leisure (approx 2¾ hours drive).
DAY 11 - Kuantan
Travel to Pekan stopping to view some of the exclusive residences of the royal family and the Summer Palace of the Sultan (external viewing only). Visit the Watercraft Gallery which houses traditional river crafts including dug-outs and bamboo houseboats. At the State Museum, trace the heritage line of the Sultan of Pahang. Finally, spend time at Pulau Keladi.
DAY 12 - Kuantan/Kuala Lumpur
Travel by road back to Kuala Lumpur for your onward journey (approx 3 hours drive).
